Customer Questions & Answers

Does it really take 15 minutes to heat up?

I understand that it has to heat but 15 minutes is a bit long. If you were using an undersized extension or a line that is not rated for 20 amps, I could see this happening.
Asked by: spud14901
Yes, you need to allow the grill proper warm up time, or you are going to be disappointed with longer cook times and dried out food.

do you have to have the cover on in order to grill?

don't like the fact that the char broil cover needs to be down or you lose all the heat. I like to have the feeling of really griliing
Asked by: ladycrochet
With steaks and hamburg, after preheating, I cook on high with the lid open. If you like these items cooked medium, 2 to 3 minutes per side I found was sufficient. Chicken after preheating. I cooked two minutes on each side on high with the lid open. Then put temperature to medium and cooked 4 to 5 minutes with the lid down. Food tastes comparable to gas grill.

I have a Weber Q 300, which came with a stand with folding side shelves, but I am moving to where I can only use an electric grill. Do the grates on the Q 300 fit the Q 2400 and will the Q 2400 fit on the Q 300 stand?
Asked by: 1453
Hi! The Q2400 comes with a set of 2 porcelain enameled grates. The only cart that fits the Q2400 is cart # 6557 and can be found here: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber-Q-Portable-Grill-Cart-6557/204671658. Thanks!

It is the first time I was using an electric grill; I was used to charcoal before. I wanted to buy a gas one but it is not allowed in my residence. The structure and iron-cast grill is solid and distributes perfectly the heat. It does not cook too fast either; no risk of burning the meat with flame. Easy to clean after using (at least the first time !) with soapy water. Just an advise: we need to pre-heat 20 minutes. It works a bit as an induction system, so difficult to know if it heats or not. I thought initially there was something wrong but it worked immediately as soon as I put the meat on it.

My HOA suddenly decided to enforce the "no propane grills" bylaw, so my new Weber propane grill had to go. I loved it so much, that I bought the best Weber electric grill they sold. Although it takes a while to warm up (15-20 min), it gets VERY hot, definitely hot enough to sear. It cooks evenly, and it (surprisingly) cooks just as well as the propane grill! I'm trying to figure out the exact heat settings and timing for the things I cook, but it's not too hard. Don't hesitate, spend the money for this grill, you won't be disappointed!

We purchased one of these because we cannot have a gas grill in our condo. I wasn't too excited about having an electric but this one works just great, we tried it with meat, bratwurst and steak, and all came out perfect. The grill gets really hot and holds the heat pretty well, probably due to the heat liner and the overall heavy construction. Yes it is a little pricy but worth it, I'd definitely buy again if I had to.

The heating element covers a good area, under the grill, and gives a good, even heat distribution! The only problem is the hot grease that does not fall thru the grid runs of the ends of the grill! Could change this to kind of "force the hot grease" to the grill center. To compensate this action, we will try lining the bottom with aluminum foil to handle the mess. Have had a few "tasty" filets and will go with chicken, next! Have owned it about 3-weeks now, but the stand was 4-days late and the cover, another 3-days! The unit is easy for us to handle and we are pleased with our results.

I also have the stand, which I think is very helpful and well made. The unit heats up quickly and is as hot as one would ever need. The little aluminum foil grease tray is a good idea and allows for efficient disposal of the grease that comes off many meats. I recommend to buy a supply of replacement the aluminum foil grease trays as sometimes it is easier to dispose of the whole thing rather than to clean it and reuse it. The only "nit" I have is that the lid does not close 100% (maybe 99.5%), but this has proven to be a non-issue. The cause is probably a silicone or other rubber-like gasket that does not allow a flush fit. Again, it is a non-issue. I like the long power cord. Overall design is excellent, the cooking surface is totally adequate, matching the usable size of full size grills. Highly recommended.
