This is a well built product using quality materials. With proper care it should last for many years.
The air inlets on the side are a joke. Can hardly get enough heat to cook. Seriously, it took 45 min to cook a 3/4 inch thick sirloin steak to medium-well. With lid on, the charcoal almost goes out. But -- this issue is easily resolved by drilling some 1/2" air holes about an inch below the charcoal grate. This location allows air to enter under the charcoal while preserving the solid bottom to catch ashes.

I purchased this grill just until I get the bigger grill. It serves its purpose. Great grill for the money. Cooks great.

My boyfriend assembled the grill for me, for which I very much appreciate as I am not mechanically inclined. I have yet to use the grill, however due to my extensive previous experience with Weber grills I certain I will not be disappointed. It is very light weight & the handle makes it extremely portable, which was the reason for my purchase.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gman22 Save $8.00 and get the Silver
One of the basic differences between this and the Silver is the locations of the lower vents. The Gold has them on the sides ABOVE the charcoal whereas the Silver has the vents on the bottom UNDER the charcoal (just like their big brother "full size" kettles).
The vents positioned above the coals don't allow you to get a lot of air under the coals and therefore getting the grill hot e.g. for searing steaks can be a real challenge if not impossible.
Yes the Gold gas the locking handle and the higher vents allow you to keep all the ash inside the grill. But those features in my opinion are not worth the problem they create for cooking. After all, this is a grill so before anything else it should cook well
Get the Silver. It's cheaper and with the vents on the bottom of the grill you'll find high temp cooking much easier.

I rated this product 1 Star and said "yes" to the recommendation, and here's why:
I've had Weber products before (hence, the reason I purchased this item) and never had any problems till now!
The steal metal Grate would not fit my grill. I waited 7 days for it to get to my store, and 20 minutes to put it together.
I went back to the store to return it, however I would've kept it....if there was a Grate that would fit.
We (Myself and Workers) tried 4 grates, and nothing would fit.
So, yes..I would recommend weber. Hope they check their grills better next time. :-)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by resortboys Weber grills are the best that you can purchase. I would rather have this 22" charcoal grill than a gas grill.
Although it is a small grill, I had this thing put together in 10 minutes. It was so easy.

My number one go to grill. I use charcoal briquettes, Mesquite lump charcoal and wood. The side vents and top vents are great for temperature control. At times I leave the lid slightly off to one side to have an added air vent as the coals burn down. I direct grill and offset cook. I let the grill cool off and later put the grate in a plastic bag and place back on the grill. This keeps the ash below the grate and I use the lid lock to pack out my mobile grill. Easy to clean later. Just finished two tr-tips on red oak wood. Came out at 140 degree internal temp. The flavor was unbeatable.
