Answer:
Yes it can be used for storage of BBQ items, However I would be very cautious in doing so. The storage area is not bug tight, and it does get very toasty when the grill is in use.

I am storing BBQ accessories in mine like the grill scrubber. I suppose you could put your food in there but there is no shelf and it might get grill droppings and debris from that normally fall into a little catch tray in the top of that compartment.

grill unit has 4 screws sticking out on each side for mounting the two side shelves. You can use the shelves or not as you choose. However, the screws will continue to stick out about 2 inches unless you cut them off. Should not be a problem.

Hi Dot, I reached out to Weber on your question. Weber stated that by leaving off one shelf/table, would make the unit off balance and might tip over. Weber suggested you take a look at their S-210 spirit model as the side tables fold down. Model 47100001, Home Depot internet number 203597747.

The E-310 is very similar to the Weber Gas Grills of 20 years ago in size and performance. If you are not that insistent on a post mounted unit, this free standing unit is a cost effective and good alternative.

You can cut a hole in the bottom panel and lift it over the post to hide it. Make sure the post and gas connection are not too high (too close to the heat). The hose with this unit is very long and you will have to coil it up in the bottom compartment or buy a shorter one. This is what I did with mine.

Mostly not. This is all plug-and-play stuff; the worst case you may need to buy a reducer to step down your supply line to the grill's gas line size. Still, that's easy to do

If you have never worked with plumbing, especially natural gas, I recommend you get a professional to provide you a natural gas line with a shutoff and a Quick Disconnect at the point outside that you wish to use the grill. I use the shutoff when the grill is not in use.

If your house connection is a "Quick Disconnect" the same size (3/8") and all you have to do is plug in the grill hose end you should be good to go. ANY modification to the existing house connection necessary to make the fit to the grill hose end should be done by a pro.

Hi KNJ635, you can do the connection yourself, with the proper materials and tools.
Take a look at pages 10, 11, 12, & 13, in the use and care guide. This is located to the right of the product overview.
This section shows you how to hook up gas line, and how to check for leaks.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great grill Heats fast and cooks evenly. I used to have a charcoal grill. Ever since upgrading to a natural gas grill, I find that I am using it MUCH more often since I don't have to wait an hour for the coals to get to temp. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with natural gas access. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick upgrade After seeing the Spirit E-310 my wife and I opted to upgrade to the Genesis model which includes the side burner. We have been very pleased with the product and its overall functionality. I do think that both Weber and Home Depot need to outline the need for a regulator on the gas line to the grill, as seen in the attached photo. October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Weber grill purchase was easy, with online ordering and store p/u. The grill was not too difficult to assemble. It was much easier to purchase the grill with online ordering, no need to find it in the store, go through a registger, etc, etc.. April 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great grill Great grill. Easy to assemble and works fantastic. Natural gas grill was simple to set up and no more propane tanks. August 4, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by At a loss with what to do with this grill, it ruined my Summer We had a plumber, who also connected my kitchen gas stove, connect the grill. It seemed a simple task. The grill worked for 3 times and then shut off the gas completely. Weber customer service was not very clear about it, they said the connection was done wrong, and damaged the "quick disconnect" connection that comes with the grill. No explanation why this might be so, there is nothing mysterious about what the plumber did and there is no explanation in the manual if and why it would not be appropriate to make a standard flair connection. Weber sent me a replacement part but warned me not to use it on the gas line as it is, get it changed. The plumber refuses to change what he did based on this obscure advise from Weber, other plumbers also say it makes no sense and one even said it "must" be a flair connection for the copper gas line. Bottom line, I have a very pretty grill and because this "quick disconnect" feature cannot connect it to the gas line we had from the previous grill. After painfully putting the grill together it seems we have to return it. A shame because it looks like a great grill and so many others have had better luck with it. Oh, yes, I forgot. Initially the door came damaged and Weber send me a replacement promptly. August 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Weber grill!!! After doing hours of research I narrowed down my search between this and the one that came with the "Gourmet BBQ" system. After reading many reviews here about the "flimsy front panel" on the Gourmet BBQ system model I decided to go to the store to investigate. I agree. The front panel on those models is flimsy and would be rather annoying over time. Especially with a natural gas model where you have more room to store things with no LP tank. Problem was I liked the Gourmet BBQ system. Our Weber Performer grill has it and we really like it. I wanted both, the front door and the Gourmet BBQ system. So I ordered this grill and ordered the stainless steel Gourmet BBQ grates ($69.00) This way I get the best of both! I ordered the grill on Sunday evening. To my amazement the grill arrived UPS on Tuesday morning!! I am REALLY impressed with Home Depot!! It took about an hour to assemble the grill. PLEASE don't be afraid of assembly on this grill. Weber's instructions are super clear and everything is meticulously organized. Super simple and enjoyable to build. While unpacking I noticed some scuffs on the cast aluminum in the lid of the grill. They look like they could wipe off, but they didn't come off. I called Weber to see what they would recommend cleaning the marks with. Customer service asked me to take a couple photos and send them. They called me shortly after and said they were sending me out a replacement lid! I have to say I am impressed with the level of customer service both from Home Depot and from Weber! I kicked around the idea of getting the Genesis model, but am glad I settled on this. The Genesis would have been WAY too big for the 2 of us. This grill is the perfect size for us. Grilled on it for the first time today. It takes about 10 mins on high to get this grill up to 600!! That is fast!! The food came out great! I wish I would have took the Weber gas grill plunge a long time ago!! I wanted something to supplement our Weber charcoal grill. There are times when I cant, or don't want to wait 20 mins for the charcoal to heat up. I have a feeling I will be using this grill a lot more than I thought!! If you are considering this grill, GET IT!! You WONT be sorry! July 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Grill from Weber Weber makes a great grill. I ordered the Spirit E-310, 3-burner natural gas grill through HD. I had it shipped to the store with the intention of having the store associates assemble it ...however, I decided to pick it up at the store and assemble it myself. SO GLAD I did. The instructions were easy to follow and the assembly enjoyable. Now when I choose to disassemble it to give it a thorough cleaning it will be familiar to me, for that reason I would suggest even a novice DYI person assemble the grill. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble the grill. Once assembled my wife noticed the door had a small dent in it, so I emailed Weber and in 8 days I had another door. Weber stands by their products! I have used the grill 7 times in two weeks and one of those times cooked 85 hamburgers and 30 hotdogs for my twins HS graduation! Great smelling smoke everywhere and many complements as to the taste of the burgers!! Cleaning the grill takes time, but is not difficult. Do know that if you purchase a Weber gas grill you will need to clean it after most uses. I have no doubt that this grill will give us many years of cooking pleasure! Thanks Weber and thank you Home Depot for the ease of purchase and pick-up! P.S. If you are waiting for Weber Grills to go on sale ...forgetaboutit ...they don't put them on sale. They are worth what you must pay. June 16, 2015
