It does a great job and it is lighter than one with an engine so I can hang it up in the garage. I see it has been discontinued but maybe you can find one similar.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buzz Great value and oh so easy to use.
I bought this item after getting fed up with the tempermental starting and operation of my gas model and after reading its many other positive product reviews. The price was right and the shipping was free and efficient. I've only used it twice so far but am well-pleased with its performance. It's light, fully adjustable, starts with the squeeze of its trigger, needs no cumbersome extension cord, and, amazingly, the autofeed worked perfectly and I didn't break a line even once! I was even able to do the entire perimeter of my 1/2 acre yard on a single charge - even though the instruction manual suggests that the battery will not achieve its maximum duration for the first few uses. And add to that the speedy 90-minute recharge time of its lithium-ion battery. Of course this little gem has not got quite the power of my gas string trimmer (when it starts) but most of that power was overkill for the typical homeowner anyway. Yes indeed, I'm thoroughly satisfied with my purchase!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ralph82 This product is great
I just bought this trimmer a week ago & have used it twice (my 1st battery trimmer) and I have to say I am satisfied with the performance. Like anyone, I was skeptic, being battery and all but this product really surprised me. It's not as powerful as a gas trimmer, but it gets the job done. Two things that could be improved is the height & the cutting line can be a little thicker in my opinion. I love the auxiliary handle, battery charges quickly, it starts right away, no cord pulling, mixing gas, no turning off while working, and no time wasted. Simply insert the charged battery & go. I would definetly recommend it to family & friends.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bearchase Poor redesign from the original one piece shaft model
I owned Weed Eater one piece shaft model and used it for 9 years until plastic parts finally disintegrated. Replaced with what I thought was same exact model only to find that this was two piece shaft. Always felt like it was drooping and it felt heavier than the prior model. Finally tossed it in trash after one and half summers of use because the twist mechanism is broken and head swings around on it's own. String won't gravity feed, have to keep stopping and pulling it out. Redesign into two piece shaft is terrible. Will not buy this brand of trimmer again unless they go back to original design.

I have to say, when I opened the box and took this out, the first thing I thought was 'boy is this cheap!'. I have an older model weed eater that is big, heavy, with a strap that I have been using for the past 4 years. When I saw this one which is small, weighs next to nothing, no strap..I thought well, I just wasted my money! So, I put it together, charged the battery and thought, ok give it a try. Well! was I surprised! this little thing has some power to it! I take back everything I thought when I opened the box! one drawback..they did not align the hole for the screw to attach the plate so it's off center and you do get splashed with little particals.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer Great Weed Eater with a caveat.
This is a great product. It is easy to use, the line feeds well on it's own, it lasted as long as I needed. It would get 5 stars except I learned the model was being discontinued as I ordered it. That is likely why I could not find a 2nd battery anywhere until I called the company. They do have one, for $83! Which is more than the before-tax cost of the trimmer itself. At least the string cartridges are inexpensive, but I wonder how long they will be available. Also, one of the vent covers had fallen off the unit in the box and would not stay on afterward. After some investigation I've decided to just glue it on as it is not supposed to be removable anyway.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Paul A good $79 trimmer
I like that it's not temperamental like a gas powered trimmer and doesn't need a cord. The automatic line feed is great; you just have to get used to not bumping it against the ground all the time to feed more line. It seems a little underpowered, but it gets the job done; I think I'm just used to the power that gas or chorded electric powered trimmers provide. The battery lasts long enough to trim and edge my .2 acre lot, but it cuts it close. I'm 6' 1"; I have the shaft extended all the way out and it's just barely long enough; if I were taller, it would be uncomfortable. For $79, it's a great buy. For $99, I think I would have chosen something different.

I was looking for a trimmer to replace a 2-cycle gas trimmer that just was not working right. Prior to the gas trimmer, I had a B&D rechargeable that worked well but often ran out of charge before I could finish trimming my 1-acre lot.
I found this item and bought it based on the reviews in which other buyers mentioned the battery holding it's charge.
After a few uses, I can confirm that the charge lasts as long as advertised and held strong through 45 minutes of continuous use - both trimming and edging.
Other than that it is lightweight and simple to use and overall I am very happy with this trimmer.
