I like the design and how fast it heats up. The price is a bit steep, but the iron works great~

The solder Iron heats really quick, however, there is no temperature control for the type of soldering I needed it for. (Micro) General purpose soldering... Excellent. The pen style is great for control. overall, I give it a 4, only because I needed a device for micro soldering. Also, the tip/s that you can use for it, are NOT easily available for purchase in the local Home Depot. Solder types and accessories are not easily found at Home Depot. Research your purpose, and accessories need for your special job before buying any soldering iron. Each situation is different!

It was a good soldering gun, but the package is kind of deceiving, I thought I was buying a battery operated soldering gun but it was actually a corded one that has to be plugged up at all times. It is a good soldering gun though.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NS Worked great, once.
I bought this unit to keep in my tool backpack for work because it's compact and modular. The first time I used it, it heated up very quickly and was very effective. Power output was really good - clearly the "60 watt" equivalent rating is pretty accurate. I really like that it has a power switch, ready/power indicator and the LED is a nice, helpful touch.
All that said, the iron only worked once. The second time I tried to use it, it would no longer heat up at all. Completely ice cold. LED worked, power light works, just no heat. Some comments about the tip being sloppy or loose. I didn't have that issue.
I'm disappointed as I really like the design. Sorry Weller, too many poor experiences to keep me as a customer. Moving on.

Good for small electrical work or hobby work only. Not a powerful and very hot iron only 18 watts.
Light duty work only.

Heat quickly, the green (to temperature) light is a little premature, but, is a nice feature. Had to make 740 connections, operated with no performance problems. Now, I wish the operator performed as well as the iron.

perfectly balanced, no need to have a stand to keep the tip from burning your work station. Led light helps you see what you are soldering and another LED tells you when the correct heat temperature has reached.

I bought this product to replace my soldering iron I bought at RadioShack for approximately $15 that came as a kit. My old soldering iron conked out while trying to repair my diy led lights on my 60 gallon reef tank. My old soldering iron was rated for temperatures to melt silver solder but it took forever to get there and had a hard time maintaining that temperature. This soldering iron on the other hand, heats up quickly and maintains its heat well.
Cons: I'm not really fond of the unpluggable nature of the power cord but it is useful for compact storage. As of this moment, I've owned the soldering iron for almost 2 months and the connection feels solid and reliable but time will tell how long the port port holds out.
