Answer:
The aluminum on the ladders is rust proof. However, there are some parts that may rust over time, depending on the environment. Some of these parts include rivets and the hardware for the shoes.

Answer:
Fiberglass is a lot heavier and if you drop it or if it rubs against something there is a chance of the fiberglass splintering and or busting as compared to the aluminum ladder it's a lot lighter and more than likely it might just scratch it or ding it.

Answer:
The main difference between Werner fiberglass and aluminum ladders is that fiberglass ladders have non-conductive side rails. Therefore fiberglass ladders are recommended for working around electricity. We do not recommend using aluminum ladders around electricity. The weights will also vary between the 2 ladders as well. Often times the fiberglass ladders are heavier than aluminum ladders.

Hi Ray - the reason fiberglass ladders are made is because they are not conductive, so there is no electrical path to ground should the ladder come into contact with live electrical wiring. This greatly reduces the possibility of getting an electrical shock. However, there are some drawbacks to fiberglass ladders; 1) They are much more expensive and 2) they are much heavier. I have a 12 ft. fiberglass ladder and I can barely manage to lift it without a helper, but I use it outside sometimes near the electrical lines and could not go there with an aluminum ladder. I bought this 10 ft. ladder in aluminum, because it is comparatively very light and a breeze to lift, move, and set up. Suggest you check the weight of each ladder in the specs. - the differences are very clear. Also, know your weight and the weight of anything you might be lifting, and make sure the ladder has a load rating that more than covers that weight. You don't want to cut it close, because the taller ladders with less than Type 1 or Type 1A rating tend to flex quite a bit and I personally do not feel very comfortable being 10+ feet in the air with an unsturdy ladder underneath me. I always buy Type 1 or 1A ladders because of this. In aluminum, the extra ladder weight with a higher load rating is not bad, but in fiberglass, the ladders become massive. Again, check the shipping weight in the specs. If you plan to work on or near live electrical wiring, you need the fiberglass regardless. Read Less

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 77 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sometimes bigger is better! I have vaulted ceilings in my bedroom and high trees in the yard that my 6 foot ladder just won't reach. This ladder was perfect for the high ceilings and I am sure I will find other uses for it. Solid construction. I am 25 pounds from the max weight limit and it had no problem supporting me working right at the top. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Needed something higher Allows me to reach the 14+ foot ceilings in my house (recessed lighting, smoke alarms, ceiling fans, etc), and is light enough to move around fairly easily. Can even access the roof from my patio without pulling out my unwieldy fiberglass extension ladder (which is very difficult to move and handle). Good quality and great value! June 28, 2016
