The pins in the latter feel very loose. Are they designed like this?

Answer:
My ladder is not handy. Therefore I do not know how they feel (loose as you say). They do not operate as though they are loose. It takes quite a bit of pressure to operate the pins - even when there is little pressure on them. With lots of pressure on the pins they are almost impossible to operate. If you have not already purchased the ladder, It (the 22 foot version) is quite heavy.

Answer:
There needs to be some play or the pins would be too tight to adjust. Once they are in place I don't have any concern over the stability of the ladder.

Why is this advertised as a new lower price for the MT-22. The price just went UP from $169 to $199

I was all set to buy the MT-22 at the $169 price point, but was surprised to see that the price has jumped to $199.
Why is the price advertised as LOWER when, in fact, it's HIGHER?
Is there a chance for another sale to bring the price back down to my range ($169)?

Thanks.

Werner has two types of MT-22 ladders...a type 1 and a type 1A ladder hence the difference in price. 22 ft. Aluminum Telescoping Multi-position Ladder with 300 lb. Load Capacity Type IA Duty Rating is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 1714.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow best ladder ever! I've looked at these for years and always made an excuse to not purchase one. I spent a long time reading reviews before I made the purchase. It just takes a little practice, in the beginning it was very awkward in adjusting it but after awhile it was easy to get into position. I've only used it outdoors so far and it made working on a roof very easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish...... understand, there is no warranty at all. I always wanted a multi-function ladder, they are incredibly useful and adaptable. But... after 4 months of owning this ladder and about 5 uses the retention spring on one hinge lock broke and the knob on the other hinge lock cracked and is ready to break into pieces. This ladder has had no rough handling or rough use. HD has told me "sorry it's over the 90 day return period so you can't exchange it" and Werner tells me I have to buy replacement parts. I now have a $150 ladder that's almost useless after 4 months and 5 uses. Next time I'll just buy a regular ladder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very versatile ladder! The ladder is very stable and comfortable to be on. Because of its size it is better handled by 2 people. This is our second one of these and we plan to use it to make scaffolding to build our house. We have been using our first one for about 3 years and love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile Ladder This is a very useful ladder. It's very strongly-made and has nice widely-spaced feet; I never feel at all unsafe when I'm on it. Most of the time so far I have used it as a small step ladder, but I've also extended it to reach the raised ceiling in one of our rooms and opened it out into a regular ladder to climb onto our roof. I particularly like the ease with which it adjusts and the solid feel of the adjustment latches. You may need to be aware that it's heavy, but I guess that's a by-product of its strong construction. I have no regrets at all about buying this ladder. It's a quality product that I'd completely recommend to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, easy to adjust. Great product I'm very happy with this ladder. I've had it a few months and it's served me very well. I went into the store planning to get the MT-13 but I changed my mind in the store and I'm very glad I did. The ladder is just the right size - it gives me plenty of height for the tasks I need it for, but it's still easy to handle when collapsed (I'm a 5-11 male of average build) and takes up about as much storage room as my 6-foot stepladder. My only regret is not getting one years earlier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lowest price for this ladder. Online or retail. Very sturdy and durable, feels like it's going to last for awhile. Not like other flimsy aluminum ladder. The down side is I hope you don't have to lug it anywhere far. I live in a two story house so the length will come in handy. I wanted the little giant but they're just too proud of that ladder. Can't see spending the kind of money on something to use around the house. This is perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is only a 10 foot tall ladder This ladder when fully extended is only 10 feet tall. Why does it list as 13 foot? Werner assumes you at least 5'6" giving you an additional 3 foot of reach. This is deceptive and Home Depot needs to ensure the quality control of the manufacturing & marketing of the items they sell or customers will think of Home Depot as a dollar store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Step Ladder Ever I own three of these ladders one 26' and two 22' purchased as needed. As an exterior contractor the ability to set up on uneven surfaces is important, this product fills the bill. I've owned my 26' for nine years, it's been used hard and still performs well. In my opinion these ladders are studier than the competition and at a better price. The wide footing makes them very safe as a step or extension ladder. Versatile, sturdy, safe, and a good value.
