Customer Questions & Answers

Can the top fly section be removed?

My truck has storage bins for long items, but the 3 sections of this ladder are too thick. If I can take one section off, I can store the 2 section base on one side of my truck and the single Section on the other side. This would be ideal, just put it back together at the job site.
Asked by: Waller
Not easily. There are better products on the market if all you require is an 18 ft. ladder.

My initial concern regarding this design is the rungs. Are the less supportive to the users foot❓Are they smaller❓

Asked by: Jb
No. They appear to be the standard size and designed rungs used on all of the Werner extension ladders I own.

Specifically chose the compact nine-foot length because it meets my needs for indoor use with high ceilings and windows. Also very convenient for transport and indoor storage. Werner makes an after-market, add-on leveler, but it should be integrated into the basic design and manufacture from the outset because it is a safety must-have for use on steps or uneven terrain. I have owned it for less than a month, but it met my most demanding requirements the first time I used it.

They didn't have it in stock, so I ended up buying this one. Although the idea of a 3-part extension ladder collapsing down to 9' sounds good, it doesn't seem to be as stable as a 2-part extension ladder when it's extended all the way. Going up to the roof and rain gutters isn't something I like doing with this ladder.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 SECTION COMPACT EXT. LADDTER Unit is too unstable when extended for 2nd story usage. Flexing and occillation tends to build as the ladder is being ascended or descended. Needed pulley roped would make raising and lowering the unit more easier. Carrying handle is a plus. Compact length makes easy storage in minimum space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good ladder, could be a little sturdier Great ladder when space is limited. We were able to just fit this in our minivan and drive it home with the hatch closed. I really like the handle on the side it makes it really easy to carry by my self. When extended fully it was a little wobbly walking up the latter. It was more stiff than my 23' werner multi-telescoping ladder, but not as stiff as my 40' werner 2 piece extension ladder. I found it easy to lift the extension up and lower them down without much hassle. A+ for not having to deal with a rope that is on a standard 2-piece extension ladder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent type II ladder Decent type II ladder, convenient size, harder to raise and lower than 2-section ladders. Note that it does not come with a rope and pulley. I found raising the second fly very challenging, since it requires pushing up 2/3 of the weight of the ladder with one hand while holding the ladder vertical with the other hand. However, I have added a rope and pulley (sold as repair parts for 2-section ladders) to raise the second fly and find the result much more manageable. Others have described this ladder as wobbly; I have not seen that, but I haven't used it at full extension yet. If that is a serious concern, Werner does make a very similar type IA fiberglass ladder; I expect that would be considerably more stable, if rather heavier. It is not available from Home Depot.
