Which is the newer model: the 6' NXT1A06; or the 6' 6206S?

Hello.

I know that I am getting a Werner 6' Step Ladder, but I am tossed up between two models that are available here on Home Depot dot com.

Can anyone please tell me which model of ladder is the newer model between Werner's 6' NXT1A06; and Werner's 6' 6206S?

Are the differences between the two step ladders more than just cosmetic? For instance, is one of the ladders going to prove to be more durable than the other or have better features?

Will the current Werner Ladder Accessories fit both ladders?

Thank you for you time.
All the best.

Answer:
Please go to the following link to view the ladders. They are basically the same ladder with a different colored top. The ladders are the same duty rating and weigh the same. The 6206S does come with a shelf. I would recommend the 6206S. The NXT1A is the retail version of the 6206S. Therefore, the
same accessories for the 6200 series ladder will work for the NXT1A.

Answer:
You can detach the shelf. When the ladder is open the tray will automatically lay out for use. You cannot fold it up in that position.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for what I need! A 6-foot was too small. An 8-foot was too big. It's a bit heavy for the wife, but she can still handle it. I'm not a fan of heights, and I hate ladders, but this is VERY solid. Quite a step up from the old aluminum ladder we had. The shelf is invaluable, and combined with the parts / tools areas molded into the top, I make ONE trip up the ladder and don't have parts / tools in my pockets. My only regret is that I should've gotten it a long time ago. I also bought the plastic add-on bucket that attaches to the top of the ladder, which came in really handy when changing out a ceiling light fixture and is also highly recommended. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just the right height This ladder is short enough to work in a room with an eight foot ceiling and tall enough to get into my attic. I chose the 7' ladder with the shelf and it is well worth the few extra dollars. The ladder is strong, durable yet light weight. I had it shipped to the store (free), because they don't carry it in my local store. It arrived a lot sooner than expected. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great ladder Great ladder, I didn't need an 8 foot ladder, so this 7 foot ladder is just right August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy, convenient and well-constructed Prior to owning this ladder, the only ladder I'd ever worked with was a lightweight and somewhat flimsy aluminum 8-ft ladder with a shelf. This ladder is far superior. It is incredibly sturdy and the frame is extremely rigid. The structure doesn't twist or wobble as you ascend/descend. The feet of the ladder are relatively large and have a rubberized grip surface, which is great for stability and doesn't mark up your hardwood floor when you have to install blinds on a hard-to-reach window. The top rung and the shelf are well designed. There is a magnetic strip where metallic tools can be attached quickly, and there are a number or holes and shapes that hold my tools well. including a paint can hook. Couple small cons: they claim the weight is 33lb or so, which isn't much, but you certainly feel it when turning to go up or down stairs with it. However, if you're going to be doing any serious work with an 8-ft ladder, you're probably fine lifting 33lb. Also, you can't close the ladder and move with it as quickly as with a flimsy aluminum ladder. Neither or these are really a big deal. It's pretty awesome. July 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best Needed the perfect size ladder so I bought the 7 FT which came with the shelf. This is the best ladder I have ever owned, very sturdy and not too heavy. Young will not be disappointed. I let my neighbor borrow it the other day and he is now going to get one. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fit the need The ladder come ready to use. It is stable and appears to be sturdy and strong. Although it is not your normal 6' ladder it fits my needs. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice 8' ladder with tray Nice 1A rated ladder w/ tray. Exactly what I was looking for March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Werner 7 ft. is What I Needed My garage ceiling joists are about 9' high. My 6 foot ladder isn't tall enough. I was going to get an 8 foot ladder but thought it might be overkill besides heavier for one person to use and it would not work inside the house. I found the 7 foot ladder and ordered it and am very happy with it. I can get up in the attic of the garage without issues. It also simplifies cleaning the gutters in spring and fall and snow drifts on the roof when winter comes and it works inside the house. It has tool slots and a paint platform. I'm tickled pink with this ladder. My only draw back on it is the price. Seven foot is not a common ladder size and that means I need to pay more unfortunately. April 28, 2015
