Answer:
This would depend on the personal preference, and the scenario in which the ladder is being used. The aluminum ladder is more lightweight, however fiberglass is safer when working around electricity, The material strength of the ladders are identical.

Answer:
Depends on your use - Aluminum is lighter but not as sturdy or durable, and definitly not suitable when working around electricity.
Fiberglass ladders come with much higher weight ratings and are far more durable. If you want a light ladder to move from room to room, get aluminum.
If you want a durable ladder that you work outside on, or carry heavy loads on (like roofing) then get fiberglass. I Read More

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Indispensable equipment I'm a pro painter since 1989. I'm 6'2' 275lbs avg since then. I bought this ladder about 12 years ago and have used it almost daily. This ladder goes on every job, even if 5 other ladders will be needed in addition. Considering that it's rated for 250lbs and I'm replacing it today only because it's so caked up with paint that I can't examine all the joints to see that it's still structurally sound, I would not hesitate to recommend this ladder to anyone, for any reason at all except that it's aluminum and not rated for electrical environments. I have stood on the top plastic shelf of this ladder many times in hard-to-reach corners of rooms and tossed it around many times. This is a top quality ladder. It easily fits in the back seat of my Passat, LeSabre, or short bed F-150 truck. I'm buying the same ladder today because the type 1As don't have the paint shelf I need, and I know I'll get more than a decade of use out of it! February 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An excellent step ladder for your home or office! My new step ladder arrived in the mail! Super simple design, built with quality materials, and requires no additional installation. I was able to use it for a few annoying jobs that I have been putting off. I was able to paint some trim that was too far out of reach, install my new smoke detector, change my kitchen light, and adjust my garage door opener. I would recommend this model for anyone that needs a compact step ladder for home or office use. August 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy Ladder In a Handy Size This is Werner's heavy-duty version of the two aluminum stepladders they make in this size. Its more sturdy construction gives it a higher weight rating. Yet, it is still very easy to carry and handle. Strangely, I weighed the ladder which came to 10.0 lbs. but the specs say 20.5 lbs. And the packaging slip said 10.5 lbs. Can't explain that! Even though it has three steps, you don't feel secure going past the second one since there's nothing to hold on to. That's true for any ladder, that you shouldn't stand on the top step. So that somewhat limits the functionality of this size. That said, it still comes in handy for a lot of everyday uses around the house where you might otherwise grab a stepstool. But this is a better, more stable alternative. Nifty extra features include a foldout plastic shelf with an indention to securely hold a paint bucket and slots to hold screwdrivers and putty knife. The shelf automatically opens and closes with the ladder. There also is a hook to hold a bucket. This is one nifty little ladder! May 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As Expected I had been looking for a shorter ladder for awhile. I previously had some two foot stools that were causing me to have to do a lot more "reaching." 4ft seemed to be the perfect balance between height and convenience. I also wanted something that would be a bit more sturdy. I was able to get this while on sale and am glad I did. Has worked exactly as expected and the extra height, without being too tall, has helped a lot. Only complaint is that I wish it felt a bit more sturdy. No issues but if it was higher it would be in my mind. November 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Little Ladder This is a great, little ladder. Lightweight and easy to move around. Needed this smaller one to change light bulbs and wash windows etc. I do like the flip out platform at the top, which some ladders do not have any longer. The top has a few holes for tools and misc items, and I like that also. And it is a pretty blue! December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mother's Little Helper This ladder was on sale. I was very skeptical purchasing it as it looked cheaply made. However, after using it for several projects, including putting up all my Christmas decor, I found it to be quite sturdy and very practical. A very good buy indeed! December 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Practical hieght for accessing shelves This is a good size to use for cleaning fan blades, accessing high shelves. And easy to lift since it is lightweight. October 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great light weight ladder. Very stable and sturdy. A very light ladder to carry around the house and yard for easy access to everything from bird feeders to eavestroughs. October 6, 2015
