Answer:
I really would not recommend it unless you have a roof rack and you could tie it on the roof securely.

Answer:
12 ' ladder should be good for 16' ceiling. Remember you never want to step on th last 2 steps , as there is a chance of losing your balance. As a general rule you can safely reach 12 inches over your height, in other words if your 6' tall, and, your standing on the tenth step of the ladder, you should have a 17' reach.

Answer:
The 12 foot stepladder will give you a reach of 16'. You may want to order a 14' stepladder, as the reach will be 18'.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 395 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent The 5 stars goes mainly to the online purchase experience. Everything was pulled & ready on a Sunday afternoon in just a few hours (thankfully because this wasn't the plan I had for the afternoon). I've been installing garage doors for 23 years now & this is literally the 1st thing off the truck when I get to a job. I've had many 4' ladders thru the years, even a Louisville that I ordered online & thought would be the best. This is the easiest ladder I've had the pleasure of using. The spreaders are high & out of the way, the top tray doesn't have weird holes in the middle but rather a nice bowl to hold screws, nuts & bolts to get the job done & still plenty of slots for hand tools. Also, this 300# rating was in stock. Pro tip #1 when you get a step ladder turn it upside down & spray any moving part with WD_40, you're welcome. Pro tip #2 see pics & realize like I did years ago that wherever I am there's my 4' ladder. Make it carry the weight of your tool belt & save your back, you're welcome. September 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A good ladder This ladder is what you pay for. Its strong to hold equipment as you climb it, but it doesn't feel too stable. September 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lsdder This is a good ladder. It is sturdy. It doesn't have a lot of steps and you are not very far from the ground. September 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ladder Great product. Sturdy and useful with the new configured top and all around protected feet June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect size ladder! This is the perfect size for use indoors when ceiling fans or crown molding needs cleaning. It holds up to 300 lbs and has a magnetic area for nails & such. I feel the top is plastic, but hopefully it will last a long time. I don't understand why Home Depot doesn't sell this ladder in all their stores instead of the 4 ft. one with a 225 lb. capacity. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gets the job done. Very lightweight ladder but is quite capable of handling daily duties. I've used this ladder exclusively to remodel my basement and have not been disappointed! The tool storage on the ladder itself is pretty handy but I plan on buying the accessory holder for more "on-ladder" storage. March 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Werner 300lbs ladder This latter is obviously heavy duty, you feel it in it's weight. Is very rigid and stable when standing on it . March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice Nice ladder, I so wish they had a left handed option December 17, 2015
