Answer:
Look for the small silver button in the middle post. When these are new that button is difficult to press all the way in, it really does take some force. Once it clicks you will be able to fold the sides in towards the center and collapse the scaffold in on itself. It won't be flat but its close and it stores away nicely.

the first bracket is 1ft off the floor, the next are 2,3,and 4 ft up. Im 6'2" so the first step put my head within 10" of the ceiling, made it real easy for me to scrape the acoustic spray off.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by one of my smarter buys scaffold is perfect for retail spaces nimble enough to work in between merchandise and racks of clothing would highly recomend August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mini scaffold Not a bad purchase for the money. I install acoustical ceilings professionally and use this in Low height situations. The wheels are cheap but haven't broke yet. If Home Depot carried more selection in this price range it would be easier to gauge the product. All in all its not bad. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great scaffolding! Compact, easy to assemble and very sturdy! I was really surprised at how strong and durable it is... an amazing value for the price! July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Yes and No.......read on The pros and cons are simple: The pros far outweigh the cons. The cons first: Thin walled material at weld connections result in failed welds/torn from material under stress. Dangerous on upper most rung. The Pros, too many to list as I use these daily on commercial jobsites or at home when needed. Please use extreme caution when on the top 2 sets of rungs when nearing the ends as these units are very tip prone due to their light weight. The connections at the welds may fail if rolling under load on upper rungs as mine have in the past due to the legs flexing excessively. They are more than worth the money even with having 2 of 3 failed in the same way. Use caution and be careful as when new out of the box they will roll across a hard surface quite easily/quickly. I have over 30 years on scaffolds pretty much daily so be careful and enjoy this unit, it will be a time saver no doubt about it! Both units that failed had been extensively used on commercial jobsites for over 1/2 year daily so the average homeowner that pays attention and heeds the limitations of weight and my review will likely never have an issue of failure. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy to have around I am a professional remodeling contractor and have had one of these for many years. Right now it is setting on a job and loaded with at least 50 2x4x10s that have been in a pile that I moved every couple of days because the site is crowded. Now I can push them where I want them. I also use the scaffold for drying painted trim, finishing drywall, cutting in ceilings, etc. Great tool and Home Depot's price is less than half of Lowes for exactly the same item. September 13, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by The pivoting brace weld broke I have used this scaffold for numerous applications on interior jobs. It has never been over loaded. Recently the weld on the pivoting brace seperated where it is welded. This scaffold is not kept outside either. The whole scaffold is now basically useless. I did like the color and how well the wheels rolled compared to others ive owned. Unfortunately over time the plastic on the sides/center of the wheels breaks off causing the wheels not to roll as good. Piece of Junk. See photo November 13, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value! Can't beat this product for the price! It's sturdy, and perfectly sized for both large and small jobs where you don't need larger systems with higher elevation. Picked it up after having equipment tied up on another job and needing something inexpensive. Would buy again, might even pick up a second one. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for ceiling work Very easy to set up and take down. Not too heavy. Easy to transport and doesn't take up a lot of space. Perfect for if you have to do a lot of work on an 8 or 9 foot ceiling, such as muddling. Durable and strong too. December 9, 2015
