Answer:
NOT recomended at ALL!!!
8 ft is the height which an average person can expect to work from this ladder.
If you want to stand at 8' you need to buy a PLATFORM ladder with the railings well above 8'.
Werner calls it their "Podium" series.

Werner recommends that you NOT step on the blue top step. I recommend that you not step on the second to the top step, simply because it is not safe to do that on ANY ladder.

Unfortunately you cannot stand on the top (blue part) of this ladder. Per OSHA, you cannot stand on the top of any ladder that is over 32". The standing height suggested on this ladder is the 2nd step from the top of the ladder.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 187 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Veritable and safe I use this ladder on a regular basis to trim a 10' high hedge. It's a safe work platform that supports my weight (182 lbs.) to stand for prolonged periods of time, right on up to the maxim recommended rung with complete stability. I did go back and buy the special work bucket attachment to complete the package. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ladder for what I need I have purchased several ladders from Home Depot, but needed this one since I moved across country. I wanted a single ladder with great durability. I am not very big so the 250 lb weight limit would never be a problem for me and the fiberglass construction allows me to work on electrical if needed. Plus they are simply better than wooden ladders. 6' ladders seem more common, but I find myself maxing out the safe height too much so the extra expense to go with a 8' ladder was well worth the additional cost. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ladder I am a 60+ year old woman who is on this ladder almost every day as I strip and re-shingle my house. It is very sturdy and surprisingly light. Also bought the deeper of the 2 plastic bins that attach to it. Love it! Holds a lot of supplies, and easily and securely slides into the slots at the top of the ladder. August 16, 2016
