Answer:
After removing the anchor and the nails, you can apply some roof adhesive epoxy to seal up the nail holes and that should last a long time. You shouldn't have to worry about leaking into your attic.

When using this anchor you would want to remove the shingles from the desired area and attach the anchor. Once the application is complete you would remove the anchor and attached the shingles.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really good value, excellent quality I purchased two of these for a recent roofing project. I was very impressed in the quality of the harness, hardware, and the ease of adjustability of the rope length. Definitely worth the investment in safety. I purchased two units online, and when I picked them up in the store, noticed that one of the buckets seal was broken. After looking at the product, it was obvious that someone had used the harness and rope on a project and then returned it to HD for a refund. The clerk promptly found another unit that was unopened. This is important because the way this harness and rope is designed, it is only good for one fall. You may not get the protection that you expect if you purchase a used fall protection device. Always check that you have received new, unused units before you leave the store. This is one case where HD's generous return policy is not if your favor. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid harness, always check your gear, every time. This is a good harness and safety system. I would highly recommend it to anyone working on a roof, especially a 2-3 story roof. The harness itself is easy to put on and easy to adjust. Two downsides to this harness. 1) Difficult if you are working on the roof by yourself. It is impossible to connect yourself if you are the only one on the roof. The rope wasn't long enough to connect prior to going on the roof, so I had to have an assistant on the roof to connect the harness. To disconnect, I took the whole harness off and disconnected myself. 2) The connecting strap was longer than I would have preferred. Caused it to get in the way at times. Remember to always check your gear before every use. The rope will start to fray. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for peace fo mind Good value. All you need in a sturdy storage container. Used for about 4-5 hours. Harness is comfortable and gives you extra security on the roof. Who is going to pay your bills if you have an accident? in my opinion investing in safety is the best investment you can make. Gives extra security when bending down/ using tools on the roof. Used for painting and for installation of roof vents. As others have said, if you step on the rope you will slip. You need to be comfortable enough on the roof to get up to secure the harness and down with the harness unsecured. Allows you to work near the edge of the roof with power tools/ awkward angles. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice product It comes with nice container easy to set up and easy to put away i use it for my solar installations to be safe on the roof. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bring out our inner spidey Well, let's just say men don't read instructions or watch very good u-tube videos; so there was a lot of swearing in the beginning when he couldn't figure out how to put it on. Once he figured how to put it on he wouldn't take it off. Picture spiderman ala 'dad' helping with math homework! The harness system worked great and we now feel safe when he's relegated to gutter cleaning. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't fall off your roof! Falling off a roof, or high scaffold, can cripple you or worse. Medical bills, lost income, pain. A fall protection system is designed to limit your drop to a few feet, so you are bruised not shattered. This bucket of straps is complete for most purposes. Everything snaps straps and latches easily, and looks strong and safe. Initial harness adjustment is tedious, and must be done right. Once adjusted to you it should only need minor trim for seasonal clothing. There are a LOT of instructions. You are taking your personal safety to a new level. Study well and stay safe. If you can find training, sign-up. Note that this is fall protection. It supports you face-down like a parachute. There are also work support systems which support you in a working position. You may need both types for extreme jobs. April 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't have to test it, thank goodness This safety systems seems to be fairly nice. I bought two for a recent roofing job on my home. The rope is long and fairly thick. The harness is fairly comfortable (for a harness) and the tether and it's locking mechanism seem to be good quality as well. I didn't use the anchor, I simply looped the rope around a joist, through one of my roof vents. I felt confident that it was sturdy enough to hold me if I slipped off my roof. Don't step on the rope, though... that alone almost sent me off the roof a couple times. October 20, 2015
