Answer:
After removing the anchor and the nails, you can apply some roof adhesive epoxy to seal up the nail holes and that should last a long time. You shouldn't have to worry about leaking into your attic.

When using this anchor you would want to remove the shingles from the desired area and attach the anchor. Once the application is complete you would remove the anchor and attached the shingles.

Likely not long enough. Keep the keys to the vehicle in your pocket if you do! Use a long 5,000 lb capable web strap around the tree

As a DIY-er, I'm good with a saw but working on the roof was a new challenge for me. I needed to remove some siding and repaint a section of my house that was only accessible via the roof. I felt very nervous on the roof, but this harness has been a life saver (not literally yet). I feel so much more comfortable and safer with this harness. I also used it in conjunction with roof brackets, which provided extra support and roof safety. I cannot recommend this product enough. It's easy to secure to the roof, the products are heavy duty, and the harness is snug and makes me feel very safe. Buy this for roof safety!

Have not used this yet, but appears to be a solid product, sufficient for my needs as a homeowner needing a safety apparatus for climbing on my roof. The only real disappointment: The instructions are pretty tough to follow for someone not used to this sort of equipment. Of course, there's always YouTube, which was somewhat helpful. It would be nice if the Werner company would make a YouTube video, specifically for this system, for guys like me.

I was replacing my siding and was standing near the edge on a 2x8 board held by couple of brackets and one of the brackets came off. I lost balance briefly, but the harness kept me in place and I was able to regain my balance. Good thing my wife wasn't around to witness it because she doesn't like me working up there. Anyways, I think it more than paid for itself already. It's easy to put on and was pretty comfortable wearing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great setup for this homeowner I purchased this to remain safe while installing a steep (12:12 pitch) roof on a shed, working alone the entire time. The harness takes some work to adjust initially, but goes on fairly quickly afterward. I used the sternum strap to mount a walkie-talkie to call on my wife/kids as needed. You can easily wear your tool belt (even w/suspenders) over top of it. I had no problems clipping in or out of it at any time. If installing a new roof, or even re-roofing, you have to periodically remove/reinstall the roof anchor at the peak of the roof (initally installed to trusses, then remove/reinstall as sheathing is put on, then again as shingles go up). A minor annoyance and just part of the job. Overall, very satisfied with the quality of this fall harness in a bucket. As someone who is not keen on heights, it made an otherwise frightening job entirely manageable.

The harness was easy to figure out and comfortable to wear...did not have trouble getting people to put it on. The gear also appears to be well made with good stitching at all of the stress points. Of course, only one way to verify quality of the gear but there were no takers. The individual buckets were a great idea, now there are no pieces of gear laying around on the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well, didn't risk a fall. This "Kit" was the best bang for the buck. I was a little disappointed in the fact it really doesn't show you how to use the harness. I've used harnesses before, so not a biggy. My wife felt secure after I used the harness assembly on our roof. The anchor point worked well and there was good advice regarding using new screws every time.
