Answer:
For my application, there is 31 inches from the 4x4 to the wall. This gives plenty of room from the pump jack deck to the wall. The arms are long enough to allow for clearance between the wall and the jack deck in case you need to have the arms pivoted a little high or low. Aim to have the arms level, and you'll clear the deck with nearly a foot of room.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holds Tightly You'll need at least two of these per wooden pump jack pole. Use 3" long screws to secure to the side of the house. The angle iron arm pivots for better placement, and each "shoe" where the screws go into the wall pivot as well. The arm made with round stock pivots up and down but not to the side. I use one homemade brace and two of these Werner braces. The Werner braces make the pump jacks firm and you can feel there is almost no movement of the pump jack deck under foot. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by worked great. worked great with our pump jacks. I wish the pump jack would have came with the braces August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Goes with the pump jacks Good quality - Built well - Good value! Glad I purchased from HD! October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gotta have it. The instructions say you need at least 3 per pole for a 20 foot height. One at base one at top and one every 10 foot in-between. If you are setting up on soft ground you can simply plant the bottom six inches in the ground and eliminate the bottom brace requirement. August 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Braces I like the Jacks, I liked the Safety/Workbench and I recommend no less then two braces per upright. Instructions are in the box for the use of the whole system it's all well made and the price is unbeatable when you get home delivery and free shipping. John in Maine October 25, 2010
