Answer:
No: infrared devices, such as your cable TV remote, are line-of-sight: the signal can't "go through" an object. Put something in front of your IR television remote, and try to change the channel: it won't work. See http://forums.solidsignal.com/content.php/249-What-is-the-difference-between-Infrared-and-RF for details.

Thank you for the reply. However, based on your response Home Depot's website needs to be changed so it does not show the (incompatible) replacement remotes as accessories for this receiver kit.

Hi MikeM, per the vendor of the product, Westek, you choose the correct channel (Channels A-F). Answer:
I ordered two and they were on the same channel (B). I wanted them on the same channel so it was a plus for me but would not work for you. I don't know if they ship on different channels and there's no way to specify a channel when ordering as far as I could determine.

Answer:
each receiver and remote have a frequency code (A - F), if receivers with the same frequency are with in range of the same remote (remote works from up to 100 ft away, depending on area) they will both turn off / on. If they have different frequency codes (for example one is code "A", and the other "B") they will not be impacted by the other remote.

Hi rick, for your convenience, the Homedepot.com provides on the Product's page a tab named 'Accessories' and a tab named 'Coordinating Items'. You should be able to view the replacement remote available for this item in those sections. Hopefully that helps! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excelent Remote I use this to control my backyard fountain. I like the bright red light to let you know when the power is on and it works from distance as advertised. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Item - I can see many uses for this We bought this so we could kill the power to our garage door opener once we leave the house. We have an old garage door opener that sometimes opens by itself. We think it is picking up sporadic signals from a high tension power line that goes right by our house. We haven't had any thefts but it's unnerving to come home to your house with the garage door wide open. This works great. I can see many uses for this. August 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great at a great price We needed a remote switch for an outdoor outlet feeding deck lighting. The outlet is very low to the ground and I literally have to get on my knees and tilt my head sideways to see the prongs when plugging something in. This remote is a great solution. We noticed it will not work if you are too far inside the house but if switching outdoors to an unobstructed target you will likely get the full distance advertised. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Light remote control I really liked the remote. I've purchased a second one because they work so well August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised Purchased 2 remotes for outdoor fountains. Have only had them a few weeks but so far they work great. They have great range...at least 30 feet. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solved our problem We had a water feature installed in our backyard landscaping, but had to walk out to that area to turn the recirculating pump on or off. Not a BIG deal, but not totally convenient. With our new outdoor wireless remote receiver kit, we can turn the pump on and off from inside the house - even through a closed sliding glass door. Much better !!! July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works just as expected! This product is working just the way I wanted it to. A remodel project left the Garbage Disposal with a plugin to use, but it was not connected to an On Off switch. I now use the remote to turn the disposal on and off. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Bought a similar device that did not last very long but this one has worked very well so far. It receives the signal very well through walls at a distance of about 70 feet. For the price you can't beat it. July 5, 2016
