Could you run a full-sized refrigerator on this?

Asked by: dj
Yes. Currently my Mother in Law is without power here in Myrtle Beach after Hurricane Matthew. This unit is powering her refrigerator, tv, cable box, small fan and a couple of lights. It ramps up when the compressor kicks in on the fridge but then settles back down to just above idle.

I needed a generator that would have enough amps to start my rotary hammer drill that uses 10.5 amps. The problem was, I got several different answers about how many starting amps this hammer drill used. But when I got the generator, the 2200 watts it puts out was easily enough to start it. I use the hammer drill to drill pilot holes for Rigid PVC fence posts for electric fencing. At only 43 lb. this generator is light enough for me to carry out in the field over rough terrain along the fence line. I especially like the efficiency mode which sets the engine speed according to the load because this really saves gas. I've had it about a month now, and it's easy to start, has plenty of power, and is easy to carry. I made a good choice in a generator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First impressions Delivered on time and in good order. After filling with oil (provided) and gas as per instructions, the generator started on second pull and ran smoothly. After a short time I started testing with various lights, tools, etc and all worked. The maximum I have tried so far is a 1500w heater which operated ok, though there was a reasonable increase in noise level due to the motor working harder, as expected. I am on a long camping trip from California to Alaska and back in August, so that will be a true test of how good the generator is, but first impressions are that it is a good product, reasonably light weight and has all the features required.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the generator dislike the longevity Bought this generator New from HD put it into service mid August 2016 Use the generator 1-4 hours a day with the average being 2 hours. All super light loads- battery charging, run a computer etc in our off grid cabin. We changed the oil 4 times during this time frame to be safe per the owner's manual At 6 months almost to the day it seized The warranty tech told me he was told they are only good for around 500 hours we were at best guess at around 300-450 hours Company is replacing it but at our current usage level will it also die in 6 months????? Love the generator and would highly recommend it for a less hour intensive use

When it runs the fridge and lights it is very quiet however, when it runs the 1000wt heater it is a bit loud. It was easy to start and easy to get ready. It says it runs 13 hours on a full tank at 50% but this hasn't been the case. With just the 1000wt heater and 2 RV lights going it ran about 6 hours,so keep that in mind. Overall I like it and it is just as quiet if not quieter and way cheaper than the Honda. At least we can camp in Wisconsin and the U.P. when it's chilly at night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New one hard to start My first 2200 Westinghouse inverter generator works perfectly. I bought a second one so I could hook them in parallel and run my RV AC. Once running, they do that well. However, the new generator is much harder to start. Takes as many as 8 or 10 pulls and it has to sit at a slight angle or it will not start. I know about the low oil sensor and made certain it was topped up with the proper oil. I suspect that the sensor is not working correctly and the slight tilt is necessary to "fool" it. Otherwise I love these generators. They are quiet and seem to be efficient on fuel. And, the price is right.

We purchased this unit from Home depot online and it ran great for about 30-40 hours of use. We changed the oil at 4 hours and stored it inside. After 4 months it just stopped working. We took it to a local repair shop. The said the engine had a major failure with a major cost to repair. Our local Home depot store told us they would ship it back for warranty even when we clarified the online purchase. We drove it over and they refused because we bought it online. We will be purchasing a Generac.

I have only started it once, but it easily powered a 1500 watt portable heater. I monitored the output while under load on an oscilloscope and it looks very clean. I then used a spectrum analyzer to look for RF noise and did not see anything too objectionable. Some birdies hear and there but much cleaner than my neighbor's solar panel system.

I purchased this Inverter for the cabin we have and I am not disappointed. It started on the first pull, handles the coffee maker and small microwave oven with the lights on. The noise level is low enough that we do not even hear it running and it sits 10 ft from the cabin. Very satisfied with this purchase. The only suggestion I would make is a gas gauge would be nice.
