Answer:
Mine does not have forward/reverse as the original one (Hampton Bay) did.
I did not see that when ordering. It should be highlighted for those doing replacements.
In our weather we need both winter and summer fan operation.

Answer:
No. You have to select reverse with the switches that are on the structure of the fan. Then all of your commands will work the same, only the blade rotation is reversed.

The bottom line is that the fan has to be partially disassembled so the receiver/controller can be mounted and wired into the fan wiring. You may need an electrician to do this. If so, make sure the codes are set different than the factory setting and that the remote and the receiver/controller both have the same personal code set in before installing. The instructions are provided. This unit should work with any Hampton Bay fan. Read Less

Answer:
I don't think it matters the brand of fan you choose. You simply wire it into the circuit, and it works. The exact model I have says Hampton Bay on it. Now Westinghouse puts it's name on it. The fan make and model doesn't effect the operation of the remote.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Controller The installation of the receiver was a cinch, with the instruction provided. Be sure to tune the power off. I love the portability of the controller. Prior to having the portable feature I had no way of controlling the fan or light. They were many time I had gotten comfortable and then needed to get up and shut off the light or set the fan. Not now, with the remote, I can control these items from my night stand. If you have more than one of the controllers make sure the codes are set differently. When I finish my wife said the fan and light in the kitchen was going on and off. I installed this unit in the Master Bedroom. It was not a problem reseting the codes. July 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Check your Fan Remote Requirements B4 Ordering this product I ordered this product and did not check the feature details. It looked like a direct replacement for a Hampton Bay remote that failed. It DOES NOT HAVE forward and reverse controls. It does work the light and fan speed. But if you want the full features of your fan in winter and summer this is not it. Note: I did not have to install the receiver on the fan itself. It did work with the Hampton Bay installed receiver when properly set dip-switch settings are made. May 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Remote sensor too large I was disappointed I could not use this product. I live in a condo and the outlet box is very small, circular, and not very deep. Bottom line is I'm sure this is an excellent product, but check the dimension of the sensor before you buy and make sure there's enough room for it. May 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finally...a remote that works with my fans I was so happy to finally find remotes that would work with my fans, I had tried several others, but because my fans came with remotes years ago, the ones from the store wouldn't work. These were 1/3 cheaper than brand name and work great. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hampton bay replacement controls I had to purchase this control AND an additional adapter for non-remote control fans because Home Depot seems to no longer carry the replacement remote controls for the Hampton Bay fans I bought 3 years ago. I only need a replacement controller, not an adapter for another fan but it's the only way to replace the cheap chineese controlers that fail prematurely. October 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Fan Control on Market I installed four of these in a four-bedroom house over ten years ago and they are all still going strong. No issues at all. We just bought a new house, and I was disappointed to find that this remote is no longer sold in stores. Don't waste your money on any other product. Order this one online and wait for shipping. You won't be disappointed. And Home Depot, please stock this product in your stores again. Your #1 competitor has nothing like it in stores either. July 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Controls and Functions, a bit of a Pain to install. Once installed the unit is great. The only issue I had with it was the install. The control unit that is installed with the fan is too large. I installed this unit on a 72" Ceiling fan. The control unit was still too large to install in the base of the Fan and does not fit in the electrical box. The only way I could get this to work, was to install the controller in the ceiling, outside the electrical box. However, once installed, it works great. I keep mine on Auto due to my living room getting warm during the afternoon while I'm at work. I've had no issues with it at all. September 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Unit This unit was sold by Hampton Bay several years ago. Ours is about 10 years old and has worked flawlessly. I don't know if it works with the CFL or LED lights, however July 13, 2014
