Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CGOSU Intercom did NOT work across all circuits (across phases)
This intercom transmits its signal using "power line communication" and not RF (radio) signals. They tested well when all were plugged into the same circuit. When placed around the building they ended up on different phases of the circuit panel, so they did not work at all. I could install capacitors across the phases to enable them to work -- but returned them instead.
There is also no way to set a station to be a dedicated location. eg: You are defined as station #1. You select a different station (2, 3 or 4) to call. After completion of the call, you must reset your station number back to 1 -- otherwise no one knows which number you had selected previously. This could be problematic since this is NOT hard-selected, and station numbers can be inadvertently changed...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pharoah42 Review Correction
Before other electricians jump all over me, I need to correct a statement in my previous review.
My statement, "When you look in your circuit breaker panel, you most commonly see two vertical rows of circuit breakers; these are your "two legs," each providing 120 volts of power." is incorrect.
When determining where to place your intercoms within your home, remembering that they have to be on the same "leg" to communicate, bear in mind that "EVEN" numbered breakers are on one leg, and "ODD" numbered breakers are on the other.
Hence, an intercom on a circuit connected to breaker 5, would not be able to communicate with intercoms connected to circuit breaker 12.
Please excuse my earlier error; hadn't had my morning coffee yet.
Hope this helps.
A great product!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by abena Does not work with modern homes
These intercoms apparently communicate through the electrical system. For homes with modern breaker panels where different rooms are on different circuits, this product will not work. The GFI plugs in the kitchen also block the communication.
Even when two units ARE connected on power circuits that communicate, the functionality is totally impractical. The channel that you are calling and the channel that you are on have to be same. So if I set each intercom in each room to a different channel, and then want to call the living room from the bedroom, I have to switch the bedroom to channel B (my choice for living room channel). Then talk, and then remember to switch my bedroom unit back to channel A (my choisce for bedroom channel). Clearly, I'll forget to switch back eventually, and I won't be able to communicate with the desired room because it's unit won't be on the expected channel.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bill32 Only works on some rooms
The problem with these systems is that they only work on wall plugs that are on the same side of your 220 volt main pannel. That is a problem that the average homeowner can not even figure out, let along fix. In addition, they are prone to having "I can hear you but why can't you hear me" issues.
Junk, buy something else.

I HAD A VERY OLD INTERCOM TO CALL MY HANDICAPPED SON FROM ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE. THAT ONE BROKE AND I LOOKED AROUND ALL OVER UNTIL I CAME ACROSS THIS ONE. IT IS A WONDERFUL UNIT THAT HAS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR 4 DIFFERENT CHANNELS SO IF YOU GET INTERFERENCE WITH ONE CHANNEL YOU CAN CHANGE TO ANOTHER CHANNEL. EASY TO USE AND EASY TO SET UP THIS 4 CHANNEL INTERCOM WORKS LIKE A CHARM. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Received this item on Tues due to me having foot surgery. I would be able to contact my husband in the garage if I needed him. Worked great up until Thurs. Tried to use it on Fri...no luck. I could hear my husband but he could not hear me talk or ring for him. Had to take it back...will not buy another.

Unfortunately the installation manual and the product info on line both elude to the fact that this product has some requirements that the average homeowner would never think about. This product is not only wireless it's antenaeless. That is it doesn't use an antennae to broadcast a signal to the other units it useses the power circuit and sends an FM radio frequency signal over the power circuuit, which is no problem as long as each unit is on the same "phase" inside the residence electrical power panel. Technical stuff that is not explained anywhere, and not something the average homeowner can take care of themselves without hiring an electrician if cuircuts don't match phasing. The product itself is fantastic and inexpensive, I have an electrician friend that rewired my circuits at no charge, and since my home is 3,444 sq ft it was very likely that these units weren't going to work without some switching around the wiring inside my very large 200 AMP electrical service panel.

These intercoms worked so great, I ordered another set to have them in 4 different rooms. We use them to communicate between the basement and upstairs. My husband is hard of hearing and he can hear these just fine. The sound is crystal clear.
