This is my first generator and I am blown away. This generator fired right up and powered my well pump, fridge, receptacles, and lights with ease. I hooked it up via transfer switch.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by woodworkerx3m Well built and good value-I added an hour meter
I bought this generator based upon the overall reviews. It seems to be one of the best reviewed generators on the market. I would agree with those reviews. Since this generator does not come with an hour meter, I purchased one and installed it. I then ran it for about 20 hours with the oil that came with it. I then changed the oil and put in synthetic. My research on this seemed to indicate that the break-in period should be done with regular oil. The hour meter I used was a Honeywell 28104 for about $30. It requires a 2" round hole and I wired it directly to one of the ac outlets. A generator really needs an hour meter so you know when to change oil.

From everything you can read about this generator it does not come with an hour meter but when you unbox it you find one built into the unit. Great surprise.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ray "MONGO IS ALIIIIVE!!!!"
Of all people to shop for generators, my wife found this and sent me the link. Low and behold, after doing a couple hours of research online, I discovered this generator is number one in its class for 2014 and 2015. While some online sources identify it as "made in America," I went to the source and talked to the Westinghouse folks in Wisconsin. Bad news: It's made in China (as are 90% of generators today). Good news: Its built out of Westinghouse specified parts like forged crankshafts. I spent two hours online and could find zero owners saying their motors exploded. If you read the reviews at other "freight" stores, their motors are evidently not as reliable.
The fit and finish on this thing is absolutely top notch. Everything on it except the pull handle and wheels is metal, and not the flims- buzzy- rattly kind. Even the gas cap is plastic-wrapped metal and big enough to open and close in winter with gloves on. This sturdiness adds to the bone-crushing 170-odd lbs but the wheel kit makes moving "Mongo" pretty darned easy. The gas tank on this beast has a nice mechanical gas gauge which took me about two gallons to get off EMPTY. It does not have a Hobbs timer to record run time but, I found an 120v AC online for $17 and will cut a hole for it one of these days and wire it to one of the outlets.
It started pretty easily, after the dope starting it remembered to turn on the start switch... After eight pulls turned off, it didn't flood. Cranked right up after I turned the switch on. For break in, I plugged a large high velocity circulator fan into the generator and let it blow on the engine, keeping it cooler for break-in and gave it a little load to work on.
As I understand it from the company online Q&A, the generator is brushless and has a voltage regulator making it acceptable for computers. I haven't put a voltage meter on it yet to measure voltage but the fan ran just fine and the generator didn't miss a beat when it was turned on.
Other than being a tad loud up close (quieter than most "construction style" generators) and fairly heavy, I have zero complaints so far. It wheels easily and as long as you are not lifting it in and out of a truck or hauling it down stairs, its a winner. Reliability will be reflected in time but, with no "sploded" motors reported online, I feel pretty sure this beast will be there when I need it.
Remember: When storing, always run the engine dry by turning off the petcock. Keep you gas stabilized and never store it longer than a year. And run them at least every few months for a half hour or so to keep the seals and squishy bits squishy. When you change the oil, switch over to synthetic to protect the motor better between long sits and during extended runs.
One note: There is no GFCI equipped on this model.

I purchased this generator to be a standby power supply for my home. It was easy to assemble took me less than 15 min (wheels and bars). I filled it up with the supplied oil, added fuel and started it up. Runs like a champ. Seems to be built well.

Very efficient generator and quieter than most. Starts on the first pull almost every time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Robsterrob Great Generator - well built - converted to tri-fuel
This generator was very easy to assemble, couple wheels and handles and it was set to go. I purchased a tri-fuel conversion kit (not at HD) and installed it with some modification to the frame of the generator. Next filled it up with some hi quality synthetic 5w-30 oil designed for small engines and was ready to go. Please note that the generator does come with a quart of 4 stroke oil that also can be used. The generator will be using a 30A L14-30R generator cable from generator to L14-30R outlet on outside of house. This outlet then wires directly to a manual 10 position transfer switch. I have it about 6 ft from the house on a small 3ft x 3ft concrete pad I poured. I then started by firing the generator up using a natural gas connection - started immediately and ran very nicely - unloaded! For a quick check I plugged in a 1000W halogen work light to load the generator. Once plugged in the generator loaded down and again continued to run nicely. The exhaust on this thing is a very nice size allowing it to run at the listed 71dB level - pretty quiet for a 5500W generator! I can barely hear it inside my house, I am very satisfied. I also purchased the cover for it, pretty basic but does the job nicely. Now I actually am looking forward to the first power outage. I may update after that occurs.
