Customer Questions & Answers

will the 240 plug convert to a 30 amp three prong outlet?

we have 30 amp 4000 watt needs for our rv, if I add a 3 prong 30 amp adapter to the 50 amp plug will it convert?
Asked by: bill
You can technically convert any 4 wire 240V source to a 3 wire 120V source. You need to take either line 1 or line 2 with the other 2 conductors (the ground and neutral) to make a regular 120 volt source.

Does anyone know what the Noise Level is?

I have checked several sites and can not find what the noise level is.
Asked by: Loretta
I do not know but we run it in our attached garage with the exhaust piped outside and it isn't bad plus my neighbors haven't come over and yelled at me YET. They have been invited over when it gets cold in their home. Bribery?

Why are the Westinghouse generators so much more fuel efficient than all the rest? Its either brilliant or suspicious.

Compare to comparably sized Generac or others--major difference!
Asked by: Steve
I know that's what everyone says. We haven't used ours that long to get an accurate reading so I cannot vouch for that. The engine sure sounds strong though. Maybe it's in the carburation. I don't know.

I unpacked and assembled the wheels and added fluids. On the first run I discovered the fuel line broken and leaking fuel. It took multiple calls over a period of 3-weeks to customer service and the warranty provider to get repair approval and locate a service center. I then had to take the generator to the service center to have the repair completed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Generator I purchased this generator to be a standby power supply for my home. It was easy to assemble took me less than 15 min (wheels and bars). I filled it up with the supplied oil, added fuel and started it up. Runs like a champ. Seems to be built well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built and good value-I added an hour meter I bought this generator based upon the overall reviews. It seems to be one of the best reviewed generators on the market. I would agree with those reviews. Since this generator does not come with an hour meter, I purchased one and installed it. I then ran it for about 20 hours with the oil that came with it. I then changed the oil and put in synthetic. My research on this seemed to indicate that the break-in period should be done with regular oil. The hour meter I used was a Honeywell 28104 for about $30. It requires a 2" round hole and I wired it directly to one of the ac outlets. A generator really needs an hour meter so you know when to change oil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best generator for the money. Very efficient generator and quieter than most. Starts on the first pull almost every time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great machine except for filling it with gas Came on a pallet that I had to break down and dispose of. Easy to assemble the wheels, feet and handles to the unit. The gas tank has a wide cover that narrows to a small opening into the tank. This opening also has an obstruction that keeps a gas can filler tube from getting into the tank. The result is spilled gas. I have several gas engine devices and none of them have this problem. Hence the low ease of use. Engine started on first pull the second day after running it the first day. The unit is easy to move about with the wheels and handles that collapse to the unit when not being used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Westinghouse makes good generators We decided on this generator for a number of reasons: 1. Westinghouse generators are easily servicable and parts are readily available. This is not always true with many of the cheaper options out there. 2. This is a quiet machine (as far as generators go) 3. The machine starts easily and friends that have the same generator have proven that it is well built and worth the investment. Keep it maintained, follow the instructions to the letter, and this machine will work like a charm

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the piece of mind Performed admirably during our power outage,,,,this unit was still going 11 hours later and I had to power it down first to add gas,,,,,wish it had an electric start as it did not start on first or even second pull,,,,in fact, we need to get a couple of additional gas cans to store reserves as the tank on this is so big that as soon as u fill it,,,u have to go out and get more gas,,,,but that's worth it if it continues to run forever like it did for us! Buy a battery operated syphon pump though as trying to lift the gas cans to refill the tank can be a tough experience,,,,u can get those syphons for 15 bucks,,,well worth it,,,
