I am looking for a new water heater in the future. I am comparing the annual cost of standard water heaters and I do not see the annual cost of this water heater. This will greatly help with my decision. I assume that this will save me money at my bill, but I need to know if it will pay for itself against the cost of a standard water heater using the annual cost as a base line.

Answer:
Around 150, depends on usage and gas prices. It'll never pay for itself, a tankless water heater is half the unit cost and nearly the same to run. I recommend AO Smith/Takagi.
