My wife is on home dialysis, so I needed a reliable energy source. I'm a mechanical engineer, so I did a lot of due-diligence investigation and found the Westinghouse unit to have good recommendations and credentials. The unit was very easy to assemble. A rubber grommet was missing from one of the pivot handles. The Manufacturer sent me a replacement 'cap' instead of a 'grommet'. I haven't recontacted them yet to try again. The generator sat untested for a few weeks while I designed and built a portable sound enclosure with ventilation. I also installed a Reliance manual transfer switch. I tested the whole system last week. I have a freezer, refrigerator, microwave and numerous lights, fans and wall sockets on the system. The generator started up after about 10 cycles due to time required to get gas from the fuel tank to the carburetor. I ran it for about an hour and tested all 6 circuits on the transfer switch. The test went flawless and the generator performed just as advertised.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Km53 Excellent generator
After many years with a 3000 watt generator this was an excellent choice for upgrade. Plenty of power yet not as noisy as most similar sized generators. Easily powers my entire house. Battery start gives me piece of mind knowing my wife can start this when I'm not home. She could not pull start this bigger engine. And the battery charges while the motor is running! High quality is obvious with this generator. Easy to assemble and get started. An hour meter would be nice but you have to upgrade to the higher model. Great value for the money.

I ordered the electric start so my wife and daughter could get this online in case I was away. The unit is a little heavy to move. It started up and ran with no issues right out of the box. Connecting the negative battery terminal was easier if you disconnected the battery from the generator, individual preference, not an issue. I thought it would be louder but the noise level is manageable. I might build a small shed just to keep it dry and for security. Didn't pay full price. Watched the web page and got a one day discount that saved me two hundred bucks. Spent $150 on the extension cord and $300 to have a transfer switch installed. I'm really satisfied with purchase.

Looked at many. Westinghouse has history of good products and many of the "name" products have been having problems.

Purchased this Westinghouse 6500 Watt generator with electric start to replace my old 5000 Watt non electric start generator, which was getting difficult to start for a 75 year old, in below zero temperature's, if emergency power was needed. This new Westinghouse unit was easy to assemble, and starting is as easy as pushing a button. I have not used this generator yet to power our house, but have used it for powering electric tools while working in yard.

The generator was easy to assemble. Put oil in but did not test until power went out. Battery was dead at first, but started first pull. Had trouble with L14-30 plug for about 10 minutes before it went in fully. A LOT quieter than my previous generator, but still pretty loud. I like that it was smaller, quieter and more powerful than my old generator.
