If I order, what model is being shipped, the 2015 without GFCI outlets, or the 2016 with GFIC outlets?

Is this generator weather proof and able to stand bouncing around and continuous running conditions?

Asked by: Rebel
In my opinion, NO. Not weather proof; everything is "exposed". The electronics in the unit is much less than desirable with poor stability (frequency varies) and load pick up qualities. I returned this one and bought an orange one which I'm quite pleased with.

As long as you keep gas in it, but always read Data tags on equipment you intend to power up.

I'm worried about the manual's saying that the generator should not be run in rain or snow. Whenever I might need it due to a power outage , the power outage would probably be due to rain or snow. Any suggestions on how to shelter it so I can use it when needed? Probably not a good idea to bring it inside the house to shelter it.
Asked by: MuchConcerned
.DEFINITELY DO NOT BRING IT INSIDE. You will likely kill yourself with the carbon monoxide exhaust. Any sort of shelter over the generator will do. Just something to keep the rain and snow from coming in direct contact. Water and electricity do not mix well. If you have no other shelter, try something simple like a plywood cover held up by some 2X4 s. Even a tarp will work as long as it is not laid directly on the generator when the generator is running. When storing and not in use, a good tarp tied on the generator will protect it until needed.

can this be used in conjunction with an AIM's 4000 watts power inverter?? This inverter has the ability to send a signal to a generator for it to start-up when solar batteries become low.
Asked by: bruce
This generator does not have a remote start feature nor a receiver for signals and therefore will not respond to a signal from the inverter.

Can this unit be used to power a 50 amp camper?

I would like to get a backup electric system for my camper and was wondering if this could be used.
Asked by: jjco92
Depends. It's output is 30 amps at 220v which translates to 60 amp at 120v, so that should be plenty, but it is very heavy (about 200 ibs.), and although it is quieter than many others of its size (420cc), it is not really that quiet. it has about the same sound level as an old 2000 watt unit that we had for years. It probably would be OK if you are not near anyone else and you can shield the noise from your camper, but it wouldn't work in a crowded campground. A Honda would be much quieter, but also twice as expensive.

Electric start; what are the steps necessary for using a trickle charger to energize the battery?

Asked by: Rookie
First of all the battery needs be fully charged for the trickle charger to maintain the charge. As far as using the charger just connect the charger clamps to the correct posts on the battery (red on positive and black on negative) and plug in the charger to an outlet. Disconnect the charger before starting the generator.

It was easy to set up wheels and hand grips. I filled it with provided oil and gas. It started and ran noticable more quiet then my older genrac. The battery came charged and the gen start with a quick push of the start button. The reason I bought this unit was i wanted to have electric start and was hoping for some a little quieter then my older generator. Im glad i bought this model . Its set up in my shed and feeds into its own 12 breaker panel im ready for a blizzard and not worried about trying to pull start it during a storm in the dark when its 20 something degrees out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Have owned the generator for a couple of years now. Very easy to assemble, have used it on numerous occasions to power my house during power outages. Will power a full size stand up freezer, a refrigerator/freezer, lights, TV and my down stairs central AC unit. During hurricane Matthew the battery was dead (I guess my trickle charger stopped working) I started the unit on the first pull. Unit is very good on gas. The only drawback is the noise, however it is comparable to other generators in its size range. I start the generator every month or so and use non-ethanol gas in it and have had no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean electricity and well made Li Fan has made this excellent product for Westinghouse. Clean electricity. Easy to install wheel and handle kit with pins, provided. Fired up immediately with supplied battery. Just add provided oil, your gas, connect negative battery cable and its up n running. Its even quieter than my old 4400 watt Homelite generator. I recommend always mixing a measured amount of fuel stabilizer in gasoline. Also I recommend running it 30 minutes a month to keep battery charged. I also bought a Wen cover for it, 420cc engine should last a long time, even though it will be stored inside. Great value. Well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Assembles easily and started immediately upon use of starter button. No power outage yet, but hooked it to the house adapter and tried it out. Carried the load of the entire house as long as I didn't try to run the electric range and electric water heater. We have a private well and it is more that adequate to handle the well demand and regular household use.

When I picked it up the top of the box was badly damaged. Before I accepted it I was allowed to open the box and there appeared to be no damage. A few days after getting it home I unboxed it and the initial setup; wheels, handles, adding oil, and connecting battery were simple enough. However, when I tried to start the generator via the electric start it would only click. Owners Manual suggested running the generator to charge the battery which I did for 6/10ths of an hour, but that didn't help. I connected a battery maintainer to the battery and the indicator light suggested the battery was bad. I contacted Westinghouse via email. They responded back the next day with a phone number to call for warranty service. I did that, talked to a gentleman about what was happening and he felt like I had a bad battery and he would ship me one. After waiting patiently for 11 days for the battery to arrive I called back to inquire. I was transferred to the parts department and told if they didn't answer to leave a message and he assured me they would call back, which they didn't. By this time I'm getting close to reaching the 30 day return deadline, didn't have a callback from parts 24 hours later so I returned the generator to Home Depot without any issue for full credit. The very next day after returning it I got an email from Westinghouse parts stating the battery had shipped. I still want a generator, this one has good reviews, but now I've had a negative experience, and not sure about warranty support if I even tried ordering another one. The generator started on the second pull, but I purchased one with an electric start. I'm giving the generator only 2 stars since it didn't work as expected out of the box and it's hard to recommend a product that failed and it took two phone calls to get Westinghouse to act. Home Depot was outstanding on handling the sales, pickup, and return of the generator.

This generator is surprisingly quiet for it's size. It was easy enough to setup and get started. I ran it for over an hour after receiving it so probably not a full test but there were no issues. My only complaint would be with the angle of the oil reservoir cap/dipstick but in the scheme of things, it's only minor. This combined with our transfer switch should bring us through any power outages.
