I installed a different 4-speed switch with a 3-speed Hampton Bay fan and must turn it all the way to low and backtrack to high. If it is not spinning enough just right it stops and I have to go to low and try again.

Answer:
Ceiling fan motor controls (like this wall control or a remote control) are designed to operate a single motor on each control. These controls are not designed to operate more than one fan per control. We recommend that each fan have its own control switch. If you have any additional questions please call our 1-888-417-6222.

Answer:
If you are using a Westinghouse Industrial ceiling fan, they have to be used with the wall control that comes with it. Any other ceiling fan, you would need to check with the fan manufacturer.

Hello. The Westinghouse Ceiling Fan Wall Control is not designed for that type of product, and we would not recommend using it for an inline fan.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Switch Ever Difficult to move up and down and emits loud popping noises with sparks as it moves from speed to speed. Cheked all connections to ensure they were tightly secured and evens re-installed on another fan. Same Problem..... Waste of money and time! Would encourage my friends to stay away from this product. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not for me I bought two of these. The fan takes a 3 spd fan and converts it to 4, not by adding an extra speed but by slicing into the existing 3 spds and turning them into 4. This slows down the original medium speed which is the one I most always use---not happy about that. Kept the one wired up and returned the second. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to use Fantastic product. Large slide button is easy to operate. May 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fair deal I'm not sure I hooked it up properly, I would think that level 1 would be slow, and level 4 would be fast, but the operation seems backwards to me December 21, 2015
