Answer:
Each individual fan has to be installed to its own individual controller. You cannot use more than 1 fan on a controller. Also, this fan is not a reversible fan. This also need to be hung with a clearance of at least 10-12 feet from the blades to the floor.

Can this fan just be wired to a single 20 amp switch instead of using the control box?

I know I would lose the multiple speeds using only a switch as the control, but wouldn't it simply run on high speed? I'm trying to avoid the clunky control unit.

Answer:
This fan must be used with the wall control that comes with it. You cannot hard wire this fan, it voids the warranty. Also, this fan is not reversible and it must be installed with a 10-12 foot clearance from the blades to the floor.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 47 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Industrial 56" Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan Very sleek looking. Doesn't look industrial. Very pleased with the product. Great price. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan! Looks like propellers. Great buy for price. Works well to cool 800 ft clinic but need 2 fans June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan but no reverse! I have two main problems with this fan. First, it does not have reverse direction. I guess that's my mistake as I thought that was a standard feature on all ceiling fans. After re-reading the specs it does not mention reverse, so my mistake, but really bad for me since I got this for winter use, too. The second problem is the size of the wall control. This control is unbelievably huge! It looks like it was new stock leftover from the 1960s--think about what a computer looked like then as compared to now and you might get an idea of how this controller looks. And since the controller has two sets of speed settings I thought one was for forward and the other reverse, but no such luck. This fan does move a lot of air very well and does it quietly. Mine has a slight wobble, which I haven't yet tried to correct. I would recommend this fan to others if it had reverse and if the control looked like it came from sometime in the past 20 years instead of it being a cold war relic. If those things don't bother you this is a great fan for the price! June 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking fans, bit on the noisy side on full speed Bought two of these to use in garage. Price was good and they are decent. On full speed they are a bit noisy. Box for the fan speed switch is crazy. It looks like something out of the 50's and is huge. Purchased model 7787200 switch that fit into standard electrical box. One of the answers to questions on this product said these switches would not work, but they are fine. May 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fans Great fan for the money. EZ to install and they move lots of air. November 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Pleased It has a neat industrial look to it, and is oversized for a great effect. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased, great garage fan I purchased this for my garage and am very pleased. Quiet, steady and moves a lot of air. Having the fan's stainless look to match my garage cabinets is a plus. There were several comments about whether a longer downpipe could be used and the answer is a definite "yes". It says so in the manual that came with the fan and there is excess wire that I had to cut back to use the standard mount. November 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice basic fan I wanted a basic fan with clean lines and this does the trick. One note - The fan doesn't have any controls on it. You install a control box on the wall. It goes fast enough that it seems like it could be an airplane propeller, but the speed is adjustable. March 27, 2013
