Amps output is just as important as wattage. Why don't the specifications list amp output of this unit?

This unit (WH2000i and WH2000i XLT) are 15A continuous and 18.3A surge. Go to westpropower.com and click on the spec sheet PDF under documents at the bottom on the page.

Rated at 15 amps, but I have put an ammeter on mine while out on the lake while powering the electric elements on my stove and have seen this unit push 19 amps.

I believe, if my math is correct, this will provide about 15 amps (Watts/Volts). Or a possible peak amps of 18.5.

Answer:
Larry Amps are easily figured out so I assume that is why they don't display it. Amps = Watts / Volts. So running Amps is 1800 / 120 = 15 Amps. Starting is 2200 / 120 = 18.33 Amps. Home Depot lists the starting Watts of this inverter as 2100 but it really is 2200 as listed on Westinghouse's own website. Hope that helps.

I though I recalled it listed as 20 amps somewhere, But!
I do not have a meter to check it , but i have found putting a full 20 amp load upon it tends to throw it into overload. If I lower the load slightly It does well, I speculate realistically about 18 Watts. Again this is based only on know wattage of equipment I have plugged in, I do not promise it is fact.

Answer:
Larry they don't put amps on it because it can easily be calculated. Amps = Watts / Volts. So 1800 / 120 = 15 Amps for the running Amps and 2200 / 120 = 18.33 for start up Amps. Home Depot has the start up watts listed as 2100 but it actually is 2200 as listed on Westinghouse's own website. Hope that helps.

Usually you see a fuel cutoff so you can run the carb dry, is the only way to do that in this model to take the rear panel off and drain fuel directly from the carb?

Answer:
There is a on/off switch on the body of the generator and a fuel valve on the gas cap. From what I can tell, the valve seals it so there is no air to allow for fuel to be drawn into the carbs. Hope that makes sense.

Not sure if tipping it over would be bad as the oil may go into places you don't want it to go. Yes it would have been smarter for them to have a separate fuel shutoff and on\off switch like Champion and Yamaha so you could run the line dry. Hope that helps. I will update this is I have to take it apart some day. Read Less

Answer:
It appears that the fuel and shutoff are combined on mine. So you would either have to siphon out as much gas as you can and then run it dry or drain the fuel as you suggest which may be difficult. I am just going to run it monthly instead and not add that much gas till needed. I will update this if I take it apart and look inside.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WESTINGHOUSE 2000 I GENERATOR ROCKIN IT!!! Love this generator, works like a champ, runs everything but A.C., and if we need that were gonna be plugged in anyway, awesome price beats Hondas price by 400 dollars or more and runs quieter than a Honda, starts first pull, super easy to use and it a Westinghouse they have been doing electricity for what 150 yrs. Yeah we are very happy with this purchase and I would say if your looking Look here you wont be disappointed. Love it !!! June 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Seems pretty good for the price I guess to sum it up, I am happy for the price and would buy it again at this price. There are a few things which I was not thrilled with but overall seems like a good unit that should last for some time. Things i did not like: the four stroke oil can that it came with wasn't fully closed and leaked on the unit, and the box. Also the on/off knob squeaks and feels a little cheap. Some of the plastic was a little faded/scratched. Nothing major, just looks like it had been used a little. I'm guessing this is normal and is probably a result of assembly or quality assurance? Things I do like: The price. Very quiet during operation. Pretty light and easy to tote around. August 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value I recently purchased the 2100 Inverter to carry in our Lance trailer. We try to dry camp as much as possible and having the generator has relieved the anxiety of awakening to dead batteries on cold mornings. The generator is very quiet and when questioning neighbors, there have been no complaints of noise and many were unaware that the generator was in use. It easily runs the few 110 appliances that we use, microwave and air conditioner, espresso machine (have to have some amenities) . The price was just about half of what other comparable generators were asking and, clearly, it is equal in quality. Easy to start, economical. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best in it's price class! I was seriously looking to purchase a Honda generator for it's quiet operation and high ratings. I did further research and the Westinghouse WH2000i caught my attention. Not only were the owner ratings as high, but the noise levels were on par with the Honda. It was a no brainer, half the cost and great reviews. I have no regrets, this unit is right up there with the top rated generators in this class. Did I mention how quiet it operates? I ran this on a full tank for over 13 hours. The only thing that would make this better is push button starting. Even so, it's a snap to start on the first or second pull. August 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Westinghouse WH2000i Generator I bought this really for back-up reasons and camping. Fortunately I haven't needed it for back-up, but I have used it for tent camping. It's main use was for the coffee maker and recharging the groups electrical devices. Even when the coffee maker kicked the RPM's up it was still quiet enough that it didn't bother any neighboring campers. In fact the blowers to fill up the air mattresses are louder and a more annoying pitch than the generator ever makes. So far I am very pleased with this purchase. December 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great power from a small quiet package I have used a H brand several times before and it is quiet but a little under powered. The Westinghouse exceeded my expectations. It is as quiet as the H brand but has longer run time and produces higher wattage. I hooked up my Dealt contractor air compressor to it and it powered it nicely. The overload light flickered but it powered the compressor without shutting down. The other brand wouldn't run this compressor. The jury is out on the units longevity, but being $300 cheaper, it is a risk I'm willing to take. The unit is very light weight as well. May 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and Reliable The Westinghouse WH2000i inverter generator is a great buy! I didn't know Westinghouse made generators until I started researching. What I found is that, for the money, this is the quietest, longest running on a tankful of gas, generator out there. It is very easy to start as all the user controls are bright yellow in color. Open the gas vent, pull the choke, and pull the recoil handle. And it is SO quiet! You won't offend the people in the adjacent campsite. The only drawback so far is that the oil fill/check is a little difficult to access but that is minor. May 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Westinghouse WH2000i digital inverter generator is perfect for sensitive consumer electronics! Perfect little inverter to power recent TVs, laptops, computers, and especially fishtanks which must remain on to filter the water and provide oxygen for the fish in the event of an extended power outage or home repairs that require the electricity to be cut off for more than an hour. Regular generators can produce uneven power which can damage our costly devices so make sure you get a fine inverter such as this this Westinghouse. November 12, 2014
