Ready-tex 3.5-gallon premixed wall and ceiling texture produces good results. I just wish the odor of the product was less offensive. After several days of drying, sealing with a good primer and painting, the product's odor is still present. The manufacture has a bulletin regarding the product's odor related to bacterial growth. Using new opened containers from the store in clean dry equipment should not cause bacterial growth, yet the product has a strong pungent odor even when bacterial growth does not seem to be present.

I have used this on numerous occasions now for interior drywall texture repairs, as well as complete re-textures. Works great. I always add some more water to the mix, and instructions say to do so; I like a mayonnaise/sour cream consistency for light-medium textures like "orange peel", and I add less water for heavier textures like "knockdown" textures.... I mix with a power drill and paddle attachment on low to medium speed. You do not want to mix it on high speed, as it will introduce air into the mix, and it will shrink a little too much when on the wall. So low-med speed while mixing is best. Have gotten great results with this product time after time - great stand out (means how well you can see texture on wall after its been painted) and all my customers have been happy. Working time is great too.

Application is easy. Looks great but has a pungent odor. Other than the odor i would highly recommend this product.

I have never textured a ceiling until today and I have to say this stuff worked beyond my expectations. Just follow the directions on the side of the bucket pour it in the hopper of your gun and go. We did a knock down texture with it and I could not be happier with the results... looks like a pro job!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Alex The smell of the joint compound has not gone away
I hired a contractor to skim coat my walls. He used Westpac products. Even after a month of lighting candles, airing the room and repainting it, the smell will not go away. I would ask your contractor about what would happen if this happens to you. We have been told our wall may have to be demo.
