I need it to stake a trellis, but I don't have the means to bring such a long piece in my car, and I don't need a tall piece anyway.

Answer:
YES. A bolt cutter would be a good choice for cutting rebar. You can cut into any length without sacrificing strength

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good condition Steel at a decent bulk price I bought 30 sticks for use in a garage slab that I had poured. The rebar was clean and in pretty good shape (minimal rust/corrosion). I've seen sticks of rebar in other stores that was horribly rusted, so I was pleasantly surprised. The bulk price break was also welcomed, as it let me put an extra 100' of steel into the floor that I originally wasn't going to do! The rebar was very straight, and most of the pieces had straight ends too. Some of the pieces had bends where they had been cut, but that's not a huge deal as you can spin the pieces to get them to line up, and then wire them together. June 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase The rebar was ordered by the very helpful staff for me to come pick up in a few days. It's in good shape and reasonably priced. Don't forget that this is grade 40 and that you'll need 50% more of this to satisfy most building code requirements which use #4, grade 60 March 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value I needed rebar to put in the concrete blocks I used for the walls as well as the ceiling. Did the job just fine. I'd give the rebar a 5 if the price were 10% less. March 27, 2012
