Customer Reviews

1.6 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave in Stainless Steel, Built-In Capable with Sensor Cooking is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 1174.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice features, but unreliable Nice eye appeal. Loaded with features and 1200 watts of power. Big enough to accomodate a 12 lbs turkey. This unit replaced a similar Whirpool microwave I had that lasted 15 years. I purchased this unit on 1/4/2017. The magnetron stopped working 4/17/2017. Unfortunately many companies are now making inferior quality products as I have found out the hard way. I have seen products which had 3-5-10 years warranties reduced to just 1 year. They break so fast that one has to buy replacement more often. I would have given it 1 star, however, the technical support was excellent and quick to resolve the problem, thus the 3 star. A new replacement is being sent to me. Once I get the new one I will make another review hopefully with a much better experience.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Well but Whirlpool Offers No Spare Parts I bought this microwave about 3 years ago. Note, the model number that I bought is still being sold. It has worked fine. I saw reviews on other places where the door would not open because the latch mechanism failed. Ours started to act like it was going to do the same thing, so to be proactive I tried to get replacement parts. The only spare parts Whirlpool offers are turntable pieces. So BEWARE, this is a disposable appliance. There are no spare parts available even for a simple issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor interior finish... Had mine for a littl over 3 years. White interior paint has been breaking down since day one. Unusable now because flakes snow inside during use. I consider this a health hazard!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works pretty well We just replaced a Kenmore microwave with this Whirlpool one. On the whole I like it and it works fine. My one problem is that I have been heating a 4-cup teapot in the microwave filled with water for 10 minutes. In the old machine it worked fine, in this one the microwave blows the plug. Not sure if this is because of the weight of the pot or what. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not. This is frustrating. Other than that everything else we've cooked in here is fine, including potatoes. Also the beeps are loud and there are five of them at the end of cooking. One would work. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Replacement For Old Whirlpool Microwave Good microwave. 1200 watts is enough power to heat or cook things quickly. Large enough to handle most cooking and warming tasks. Nice automatic features simplify selection of times for various cooking chores. Only two negative features- the microwave door is quick to steam up making it difficult or impossible to see through the door. The most notable negative is the difficulty opening the door. It is so hard to open I had to put pieces of wood behind the microwave so that it would not slide all the way to the wall when trying to open it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from When this microwave was delivered with all my other appliances, I pulled it out of the box before... When this microwave was delivered with all my other appliances, I pulled it out of the box before the delivery man left and found the metal cabinet to be crushed in one order. This was odd because the cardboard box and all the Styrofoam packing was undamaged. This tells me it was packaged this way at the factory. I refused delivery of it and Home Depot sent me another. When it was delivered it was damaged in the same place but to a much lesser extent. I reluctantly accepted it knowing that this dent would not be seen once installed. After the delivery man left I found the round thing that the glass plate rotates on was broken. It was completely surrounded by Styrofoam and there was no damage to the Styrofoam or box so it must have been packaged that way at the factory. I have had this unit for about 14 months and it has started making a loud buzzing sound. Its out of warranty now so I'll just use it until it dies or the buzzing noise drives me crazy. I wont buy another Whirlpool. All my other appliances are LG ( also purchased from the Home Depot) and work great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Features are great But... We bought this whirlpool microwave WMC30516AS to replace our existing one. We had exact same model for last 3 years. It worked well for last 3 years but the paint peeled off inside and rusted slowly. Eventually, there was a hole formed needing it replacement. We expected it to last longer than 3 years! We bought exact same model as it fits perfectly (size) and our other appliances are all Whirlpool. If this fails again, we have to think about using some other brand.
