Before I start sounding like a fanboy and singing its praises, I would just like to say that my purchase decision was made on 1 factor. After 5 years of listening to the crash sound of my last microwave's door closing, I went to the store open and closed each microwave on display. This unit produced a 'gentle thud' and I was sold.
Installation was fairly simple. Following the template the job only took 30 minutes. I went to reheat my coffee but something strange happened. A huge wave of happiness came over me as I couldn't believe my ears. Compared to my last unit which accosted me with it's best jet engine imitation, this one is whisper quiet.
The love story doesn't end there though. My math skills are fairly acute and I'm usually a "press add minute" kind of guy but this time I took the time to learn why the other buttons exist. The instructions are not very clear but once I figured out how the different cook programs worked, this machine is amazing! It accommodates 2 sizes of packaged popcorn. My reheated pizza was not a transformed into a bike tire but came out perfect because the machine cycles the power. Plates of leftovers came out of the fridge and were reheated with no cold spots! Chicken and steaks are defrosted without cooking the ends.
The fan and light have dual stage (Hi/Lo) controls which is a nice touch. The best part was the price. At a little over $200 for the SS version, this purchase makes me smile every day.

I really like this microwave. It has just enough features that a busy family needs. It's easy to use, easy to clean and looks great in our kitchen. Best of all it came at a very reasonable price.

This range is large and in charge. It has a nice auto fan for steam coming off the stove top, and heats up leftovers like a champ.

Great value for this microwave. I can't comment on how easy it is to install as my carpenter did it for me but he didn't seem to have any problems with it. There are 2 fan and light settings. Looks very modern and is easy to clean. Love it!

Its best feature is that it is very nice looking. It seems to work as well as any other microwave I've ever had.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KickRocks Open Box
This was a new microwave without the box, with minor cosmetic damage but well worth the price. Ascetically it's very appealing.Though it's not a higher end microwave it gets simple everyday microwave task accomplished.Witch is what I was looking for. The operation panel shows smudges. Some of the settings offered may take some getting use to. I also found the user manual a bit lacking on operating instructions. It reheats leftovers rather quickly. It also offers various popcorn setting for different size bags. The light supplies sufficient lighting. It's located to the rear of the microwave, and doesn't cover the entire stove top. Overall if your looking for a simple straight forward microwave this would be a great buy. Note if you do purchase open box, the templates for installation are located on the box.I contacted Whirlpool about the templates, and was informed they where only offered on the box. I had a bit of a problem with the installation but managed to get it installed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Easy install and to keep clean
I installed it myself in less than an hour. Not overly complicated operating features and very easy to clean. I wanted a solid appliance with all the necessary features and not a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles and that's what I got. Easy to use and keep clean.

The Whirlpool microwave looks good and performs as advertised. It is a basic 1000 watt, over-the-range oven, and the guys for Home Depot did a nice job installing. In terms of value, it has been a good deal. What I was looking for (when I did some research on microwave ovens) was a review or comment about how the product was performing five years after purchase, ten years after purchase, given normal everyday use. The local appliance repair company suggested Whirlpool, and the price from Home Depot -- including delivery, installation and removal of the old unit -- was attractive. Contact me in five years and I'll let you know if I still think the purchase was a good deal.
