At some point Whirlpool used to stand behind their products, now all they seem to do is hide behind their warranties! I purchased an upright freezer back in March only to have it break less than a month later. Worse was that it was fully stocked, after going to Costco the week before, and had to throw away at least $300 worth of food. Called Home Depot where I purchased the freezer and was instructed to contact Whirlpool's warranty service department. Of course since it was brand new I just wanted a new freezer, but they informed me that they would have to send out a service tech to inspect the machine. Tech came out two days later and discovered their was a leak in the coil and that the freon had all leaked out causing the freezer to stop working. Freezer repaired I waited a couple of days to make sure it was working before restocking the freezer. Less than a month later the same thing happened, and I had to toss another $300 worth of food. This time when I spoke with someone from their solutions team, I was very adamant about wanting the freezer replaced and not repaired. However I was informed by one of their supervisors that, "Unfortunately we cannot make all of our customers happy." Needless to say I found this to be more than unprofessional for someone in the service industry. Unfortunately I had no other option and once again they sent out a service technician, not an actual Whirlpool employee, came out to look at the freezer. The tech determined that the source of the leak was in the cabinet and therefore the unit was unrepairable. He informed me that he was filing his report with Whirlpool and that I should here back from them within 24 hours as to the next step. Two days later and no phone call I get a hold of the the service company only to discover that someone at Whirlpool had overridden his diagnosis and was instructing them to come back and make another repair. I called Whirlpool once more and spoke with yet another solutions team supervisor and finally was able to have them schedule a replacement freezer. Was the delivery person on time, of course not they were two hours late and didn't even make the effort to call ahead and let me know but then why should I be surprised Whirlpool uses third parties so that they can avoid being held accountable. After all of this I call one more time to file a complaint about how my entire experience was. I ultimately asked to speak with a manager after speaking to a supervisor who could not resolve my issue in a manner I would have liked. She informed me that there was no one to speak with at the time but that she would pass my information on. I requested that they call me the following morning at 9:00 am as I would be home from work. Four days later I have not received phone call and have decided to post this instead.

My 9 month old freezer died while we were out of town (of course)... was a balmy 68 degrees inside the stupid thing this afternoon when we got home..the result was a loss of over $500 worth of food. The alarm was beeping...not that we could even hear it even while upstairs (freezer is in basement). Still haven't dealt with Whirlpool..hope for some reimbursement and a different freezer. Wish I could get rid of this one altogether and not have to even have it repaired. I will never trust it again, nor will I EVER buy another product from Whirlpool.

The freezer is making a humming sound. This concerns me. We have had it a few weeks.

This freezer is in our garage, but even then I've noticed that it is very quiet. It shuts off when the right temperature is reached (it doesn't constantly run like other freezers do when people have complained about the noise). The door seals really well. It's the perfect size. I wish it had an external and/or internal temperature gauge, but I bought one for the interior for under $10. Other than that, this freezer suits us perfectly. I also purchased the 5-year protection plan - price was very reasonable and gives me added peace of mind.

I like the way the interior is set up. I also like the fact that there is a light inside. For many years I had a freezer without a light and it was like searching in a dark hole for the food. It is also quiet and there is a light on the front to let me know that it is plugged in and working.

We bought the upright freezer a couple of months ago and have been very pleased with it. We needed it for extra freezer storage since our refrigerator freezer is very small. The amount of space is ample for storing all of our excess food items. It is very quiet and keeps the food extremely cold. With extra freezer space, we make a monthly trip to Costco and stock up on sale items. This model does not have the "open door" alarm but is not necessary because it has a very tight seal on the door frame. The price is very reasonable compared to the savings you receive buying sale food items. I highly recommend it!!

From my purchase and ownership of a washer, dryer, refrigerator through the years they have more than exceeded my expectations in quality, design, performance and durability. The servicemen and salesmen are all professional and take their time to answer any questions about the products they sell. This is a huge factor. They're not only knowledgeable but they also believe in their products. I would advise anyone shopping to make Whirlpool their first and last stop. They need look no further for purchasing the best product that will ensure they have spent their money wisely.

I purchased this freezer to replace one that had malfunctioned. I lost almost $1500.00 worth of meat because there was no temperature alarm. This new freezer is fantastic. It looks like once I replace all the meat I lost, I will be even more happy. Plenty of room. Only wish there were wire ledges that could be raised on the front edges so flat packages can be stood on end like a file to use the space better. I use a sealer that makes flat packages. Standing them up makes it easier to keep stock rotated.
