Please permit me to comment on my recent purchase of the Whirlpool Refrigerator, Model WRS325FDAM. Before I do please note we bought the very same style Whirlpool Side By Side 17 years ago. Although we were completely satisfied with the 17 year old model, my wife and I felt it was becoming aged and might break down. This prompted us to try and buy the same or similar modern model. I could not have been more pleased with the 17 year old unit. It had sufficient shelving, storage bins in the frig that moved freely and smoothly, wire storage bins in the freezer that slid out, an ice maker that sufficient quantities of large cubes of ice, and dispensed them in the container, not on the floor and cold water from the water dispenser.
Now to the new model. When we received it we kept the 17 year model until the new one reached recommended cooling point, ~ 24 hours. During this time I had an opportunity to take a closer at the quality, construction and behavior of the new one. I immediately noticed that there werenât as many shelves in the door and also in the main part of the new frig, a cheapening cost cut by Whirlpool. In addition, the meat/veg storage bins were very hard to pull out and close, no wax on the rails, a 23 cents cost savings to the makers of Whirlpool.
Now the freezer. Instead of having wire pullout baskets like the old unit, the new one only has wire shelves, another cheap switch by the maker of Whirlpool. Also, in the freezer there is about a 12â gap from the top shelf to the top of the freezer. Another storage bin could have included but wasnât, probably as a cheap cost cut. Additionally, a storage bin in the top of the freezer door was no longer installed in the new unit like my old one, another Whirlpool cheap cut.
Now the ice maker. As I mentioned above, the Whirlpool ice maker in our 17 year old refrigerator performed flawlessly. It gave us generous sized cubes and dispensed into the receiving glass or cup without spraying ice all over the floor. The ice maker in the new refrigerator produces much smaller cubes. The dispenser sprays ice shards and cubes all over the floor. We had two different service technician come and examine this. A Whirlpool rep was called on this problem. The Whirlpool rep admitted they knew about the shard spraying problem. The rep stated that was because Whirlpool had designed a smaller ice cube tray. He noted the edges of the cube would break off when it was being carried forward thru the screw assembly and down the chute. So, Whirlpool knowingly makes and sells an inferior designed ice unit even after they acknowledge they know of the problem. This is totally unacceptable. Now 6 months later the ice maker has failed completely.
The water dispenser. When water from the new unit is dispensed it comes out luke warm. Upon closer examination I discovered my 17 year old Whirlpool had a water reservoir. This always gave us a full glass of cold water. Upon examining the new Whirlpool, I discovered the water storage consists of just a few turns of the supply tubing, another cheap design cost cut by the makers of Whirlpool. On the new water dispenser, once the container is removed the water supply valve continues to drip. This causes the small water collection bin to constantly over flow constantly. The water then runs down and streaks the front of the stainless steel door also leaving a water puddle on the floor. The Whirlpool Rep identified this as air getting into the water supply lines due to defective water line connections, another Whirlpool quality design problem that got past their quality control.
My wife and I have had probably 5 refrigerators since beginning. We are now in our early 70âs. The reason I mention this is we have seen the quality of not only this unit but other items we have purchased recently become severely degraded. This is truly the poorest quality of any refrigerator we have ever owned. It is a disgrace that this has become an acceptable level of quality output.
I would NEVER RECOMMEND this unit to anyone needing a quality refrigerator.

Great fridge for its price, plenty of room, makes ice fast. All my appliances at home are Whirlpool. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by workdowg Great value
Other reviewers said the following: 1) Noisy - I find it as quiet as any other. 2) Holds fingerprints - it is stainless steel, what di they expect. 3) Water is 65 degrees - I admit this one is right. When it first comes out it is warm. At this price point I didn't expect a water cooler. 4) Crushed ice spills - correct again, like someone said it is an ice cannon... And again at this price point I overlook this issue. Didn't purchase for that.
Summary: If you are looking for a great refrigerator/freezer that is spacious and well designed but are willing to have "warm" water and a ice cannon(still my favorite), then this is a great deal. I could find a side by side without the ice maker at this price point.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Danny Great stainless steal frig
This frig has a great stainless steal look. Pros: the shelves are adjustable, ice/water dispenser on the outside, light on dispenser for night time, wheels underneath to move easily, & Home Depot employees install with delivery. Cons: lower frig drawers are not smooth opening & closing, ice/water dispenser is not designed well (you have to put your hand around cup and have fingers push the lever), design of freezer interior takes away space on top shelf, & cubic size of frig would not be enough for a family of 4+.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by SDmom Cheap and No Cold Water
This is one of the cheapest stainless fridges on the market and it shows. The freezer only has three shelves so although big it's not usable space. The water comes out warm, and I mean 60+F. We called Whirlpool and the service man stuck his finger under the water dispenser and said that's as cold as it gets. You don't even get half a pint of cold water out. We've had three different fridges in the last 12 years and none have had this problem. We actually sent ours back to get a different make. I also found the drawers in the fridge difficult to close. It does look good and the fingerprints don't show too much when you use the cleaner, but I would not recommend getting this one.
