Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by My last Whirlpool Brand new but was horrified during first load. The noise is terrible during each cycle and I question the faint electronic motor smell. Inconvenient locking lid and I'm not really sure how much water it really saves. I can't really comment on cleaning yet; the load is currently in dryer--not a Whirlpool. Glad I didn't do the usual and replace both even though both were old. Haven't suffered the 'unbalanced' issue yet but it sounds like I probably will very soon. The only reason I didn't rate lower was the limited experience so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Whirlpool touts the Made in USA claim. If this is the best we can do, we are in trouble. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent with some drawbacks Only have it for 1 day so can't speak to longevity. Also, the installers did not properly clamp the drain hose so my laundry room was flooded mid my first load. Not the product's fault. Cons - 1) Very slow. If this is your first new washer in in 5+ years you will be rudely surprised at how long it takes to was a single load. Even basic, normal settings take over 45 minutes. 2) I also have a burning plastic/rubber smell during the wash cycle. Will call whirlpool about it today but not optimistic about it being fixed since it seems to be somewhat common (but no less disturbing.) 3) Pretty small by today's standard. A 3.6 tub is pretty small today. That is because the agitator takes up a lot of room so it is a tradeoff for those that still want an agitator. A family of 4+ will need to do several loads of laundry a week to keep up. 4) Balancing is super important and not that easy. For those with no experience balancing a washer, it is not that simple. And when this machine is not balanced, it shakes violently during the spin cycle which could break the unit and wake up the neighborhood (ok, slight exaggeration.) 5) Porcelain tub. At 800 rpm's there is greater stress on the tub and thus stainless is preferred. We shall see if this becomes an issue. 6) Having to pour the detergent on the bottom of the tub before adding in the load. I suppose you can poor it on top of the clothes but the directions say to put it in first. I used to like adding it as the water filled up which is not possible with this machine (or most new machines for that matter.) 7) It locks after you push start. If you want to add something in afterwards, you have to stop it and then it goes back in to sensor/fill mode all over again. This is common with modern washers. Pros--- 1) Fairly priced. 2) Appears to have cleaned the loads well. 3) Will hopefully save money on energy / water but I have no quantitative way to be sure currently. 4) spns at 800 rpms so clothes come out far dryer than an older washer. If you have a dryer that drys based on a sensor (and not just timer) this will save money by having shorter drying times. March 13, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Big tub but doesnt get clothes clean I have had this washer for a year and tried everything - smaller loads, diff detergent etc etc - and I HATE IT!! Sometimes even in a small load the clothes are not even WET! It doesnt get things effectively cleaned, forget about food stuck on! I read ALL of the manual w no luck in fixing this. AND you cant over-ride the load size and have a full tub for soaking, dying clothes etc. It automatically chooses the water level and once full you cant open top w/o the entire thing draining first. Im sure I am out of luck because it is a year old, but I wanted to let you know how bad this washer is! March 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It's a bit loud! The best feature is the automatic load size sensor. Love it! March 25, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy with our purchase after 60 days My old washing machine broke and we needed a new washer that could take on larger loads. This one seemed like a good choice for the price, so we bought it. We have regretted it ever since. This washing machine leaves our clothes very wrinkled and also leaves stains in the creases of the clothing causing us to have to rewash. Like others who have reviewed, I do not like the lid locking feature. You wait a long time for this machine to go through a load and then to have poor results and have to rewash is just plain frustrating. I do wish we had our old washer with the agitator back now... New technology isn't always that great. Please don't buy this machine. October 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by good service, but wirlpool not good this time Because I used to have a Whirlpool washer, I bought this washer for my new home. I was very disappointed. It did not wash the clothes thoroughly, and it makes a very loud noise. It is located in basement, but the whole house can hear the grumbling sounds. January 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fabulous! Space age technology took one cycle to get used to. I am loving this washer. January 10, 2014
