Enjoy exceptional cleaning and efficiency with a washer that combines the best of both worlds. The Whirlpool 3.6 cu. ft. top load washer not only helps reduce shrinking and color bleeding with the Care Control temperature management system, but it also saves energy by using the right temperature for detergent. Try customizing cleaning with the Fabric Sense wash system. It makes sure you always have the right temperature, cycle time and agitation speed, while a smooth motion agitator takes care of bringing laundry to the bottom of the wash basket where cleaning takes place. Thanks to specially designed ridges, this model can even clean twice the average size load. Plus, this model is designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A.

California residents: see  Proposition 65 information

  • 3.6 cu. ft. capacity gives you the extra space you need for larger loads and bulky items like comforters. The wash basket adapts to both large and small loads for optimal fabric care
  • Porcelain enamel wash basket resists odors and rust and its smooth surface helps protect fabrics from snagging
  • Fabric Sense Wash System. Once you select a cycle and fabric type, the washer automatically matches it to the optimal wash temperature, cycle time and agitation speed for customized care and cleaning
  • 9 wash cycles include Normal cycles: Light, Normal, Heavy; and Casual (perm press) cycles: Regular and Light; Delicate, Rinse & Spin, Drain & Spin and Clean Washer with affresh to suit a variety of laundry needs
  • Rear panel controls provide convenient access to all cycle and option selections
  • Adjustable soil and water temperature settings allow you to customize wash cycles to provide the exceptional fabric care
  • Quiet Spin technology offers a unique suspension system that senses and adapts to each load, making upper-floor installation possible
  • Smooth Motion Agitator. Specially designed ridges gently bring laundry to the bottom of the wash basket where cleaning takes place. It can effectively roll over and clean twice the average size load
  • Clean washer with affresh cycle: Deep-fill the washer to clean even those areas that aren't normally reached by low-water wash cycles. Add an affresh Washer cleaner tablet for best results
  • 700 RPM Maximum Spin Speed. Faster spin speeds in the washer remove more moisture from clothes, so they spend less time in the dryer
  • American Pride. From Ohio to you: designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. Buy with confidence knowing this model is dependably manufactured right here at home
  • The Home Depot will not hook up your washer with used fill hoses; new fill hoses will be offered during appliance checkout

This machine doesn't make a grinding noise. It is fairly quiet in operation, but between different parts of the cycle, it will make some snapping noises and a low buzzing sound. It's normal, and you get used to it. The clothes come out great.

It is quiet overall. Quieter than my old Whirlpool that it is replacing...that one was direct drive agitation. This one is belt drive agitation. It makes different sounds than my other one did but is quiet except for when the pump engages sometimes I can hear a little bit of whining then but that is normal for a water pump on any machine.

You set it on small, med, large or extra large load by turning a dial. I use the Rinse 1 with fabric softener setting for all rinses, even if I don't use softener, because it rinses better. The reason is the regular rinse only sprays the clothes but the rinse 1 with softener fills the tub with water and sprays when spinning. Hope this helps.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy purchase, great washing machine at a great price Delivery was on-time and very professional! I really like this model of washer (been using it non-stop for 2 months now); it does make some rather strange noises but does a good job so who cares about a few new sounds (made because it works differently than other models - it moves the whole basket instead of a central agitator, so it automatically checks to see if the load is balanced before starting). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great washer for cheap! Have had this washer for 6 months now with no problems. Great machine for the $. July 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good basic machine that sounds annoying At a sale price, this washer is a very good value. It uses a traditional agitator and has a large capacity. The wash cycles are not excessively long. So far, it has been good at keeping loads balanced, and the high-speed spin gets a lot of water out of the clothes. There are only a few negatives: (1) it is rather loud during the wash agitating cycles, because by design the motor reverses back and forth to move the agitator with a throbbing sound; (2) you can only stop the cycle for soaking for 10 minutes before it starts over again (although I haven't tried unplugging the power cord during the soak as some have suggested); and (3) the energy efficient design keeps you from using completely hot or completely cold water. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No Good Washer will randomly pump water out after filling. Takes too much time to fill and I have great water pressure in my home. This washer has too many defects and must be discontinued. I would not recommend this product to anyone. June 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bought 9/6/14. Washer stopped washing In April 2015 Bought 9/6/14. Washer stopped washing In April 2015 - fills up and drains right away. I suspect locking of the lid is not working. In-warranty service takes a week!! June 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So Far So Good - Happy with Purchase I reluctantly gave up my old washer due to too many repairs needed, but this new one is good. It does the job. The clothes come out clean, and I can control water levels, etc. which apparently you cannot do on all machines these days. I don't understand any negative reviews on this washer, as it does what it says it will do. I would recommend, especially at the sale price. Delivery of it, however, did not go well. April 28, 2015
