After almost 1 1/2 years of throwing out my left overs and 20 service calls and Whirlpool replacing this unit 3 times I have finally given up. This refrigerator cannot be fixed. 40 degrees inside this is refrigerator is the best you can get. "DO NOT RECOMMEND". Unless you just want to put cold drinks in it. I went to Home Depot and bought a GE hopefully it'll give me the 34 to 37 degrees I expected in my refrigerator.

If a minus five star were available, this frustrating heap would get it. After less than three years the compressor has gone bad. The door seals are terrible and the ice maker has always been a problem. From the start, day one, cooling in the refrigerator compartment is irregular, freezing some contents while keeping other items chilled. We have yet to find the right temperature to keep foods appropriately chilled. Now that the compressor is going bad, the freezer ices over and water leaks everywhere, which has now stained the STAINLESS steel. Without a doubt the absolute WORST refrigerator we have ever owned or used. If you buy this unit, get the extended warranty, however be advised you still pay for service calls. It's a hunk of junk.

The freezer is not working properly and can't seem to get the right temperature for the refrigerator, it's either too cold and freezes the food or too hot and spoils it, I set it on the recommended again, hopefully it will work right now

So I began looking for one based on the measurements we could accommodate. That brings down the number of refrigerators that are out there. Then I started reading reviews online and learning what the critiques are and what to look out for. Things have changed in recent years and refrigerators are only built to last 6-10 years (per the rep I asked!). Things to look out for was excessive noise (this fridge does not have that). Ours has a mild hum every now and then when it is cooling. We got it in August, and it was hot, but the unit always remained cool and without a lot of noise. Through the fall and winter, you could barely hear it...and had to actively listen for it. So in my opinion it is quite quiet. This unit had about 10 more inches in depth than our old one and we love it! The width only increased by 1.5 inches overall and did not mean as much to us as the depth. You can lay a whole sheet cake in there and not have to figure out where other stuff has to go! I have had multiple racks of pork ribs marinating with dry rub in there with ample room. The freezer is the same way. In fact just last week there was a sale on meats and I must have 30lbs of meats in the freezer with room to spare for ice cream, ice packs and other incidentals. Inside the refrigerator section, the lower bins are too tiny with the way they are installed. They are like drawers and not like a pantry teeter-totter. We find that we can not fit as many veggies in the bins as we could in our old (and smaller) fridge. We also find the shelves collect mild condensation from time to time that you have to wipe down with a cloth. It is not a big deal by any means, buy other than cleaning the fridge out a few times a year, we never had to wipe it down. But again, back to the shelves themselves. I really like the top shelf. There are no light bulb barriers and can have a full upper-shelf to thaw food or have soda cans (a LOT of soda cans). The door shelving is deep and can be adjusted for personal preference with height. We use a lot of the door shelves for medications that need to be kept cool. This is a good spot for that. We also keep the traditional salad dressings, jam jars, mayo, mustard, etc on the door. There is so much room! The sliding deli tray is nice when you have to creatively stock your fridge during the holidays. The freezer like I said is deep and quickly freezes new items. Ice cream stay hard like a brick! I liked the deep door shelving too. We keep frosted glasses for beer and ice packs. The outer topside of the refrigerator can act as a shelf too with minimal screws, humps and bumps to lay things that need to be flat. The fridge does require a few inches of space in the back to breathe. The undercarriage is not very tall, but does require a dusting a few times a year. With the door open, it is about 62 inches in depth. The door goes about 165 degrees with no impact. We have all of our settings kept to standard/recommended and have not had any issues. The only thing that this fridge may need so far is some seals (the have not come off yet). If you know how to do it, it is super easy. As for the rest of the unit, heaps of praise thus far. This is a solid refrigerator unit. The warranty is just a year for this fridge.

This refrigerator replaced another Whirlpool one that I had for about 28 years, but had to be replaced because it was leaking water both inside and outside. It's been 3 weeks since using it, so I guess I could review it. The first model of this refrigerator was not accepted because the inside lower edge of the freezer gasket was sagging. The delivery person said it would be better to return it to the warehouse than to accept it and calling for repair service. That was disappointing because that caused a 2 week delay in getting a replacement. The replaced model looked okay except for a very superficial dent/bump on the top freezer rail guard. The delivery person noted this in case I wanted to call for the free part to be sent to me. I haven't asked for the part because it is pretty superficial and so far it is doing the job of holding food from falling out to the floor. This new refrigerator is about the same size as my old one, so it met my expectation for capacity. The fruit and vegetable bins are a bit less spacious, though. I would have liked them a bit larger. I especially like the see through clear shelves and bins. It's great to look at a glance to see where a certain food item is located. The freezer has only one wire rack shelf. This makes it difficult to quickly get out a particular item. I've had to get used to taking out several items in order to find the item I wanted. My old refrigerator was a DesignerStyle model and the freezer had a second big half wire rack shelf. I definitely have been spoiled by the extra separation of food items by that. The delay in writing this review was because I was taking the freezer temperature daily for a week. It is set at the recommended setting, but I see that it fluctuates a lot even after 3 weeks. At about eight o'clock in the morning, I've recorded zero degrees once, and as low as 10 degrees once and as high as 16 degrees once. The other four recordings are between 10 and 16 degrees. No one had used the refrigerator since night time. Around lunch time (11:00 to 1:00), the recorded temperatures are as low as 6 degrees and as high as 18 degrees. In the afternoon, I've recorded temps around 12 and 14 degrees. In the evening, they are between 7 and 10 degrees. At night, they are between 5 and 15 degrees. The refrigerator door is not opened that often. Even in recording the temps, I only do it three times a day. The house is not heated in the day or at night. The Whirlpool Refrigerator User Instructions manual says that, "The recommended setting should be correct for normal household use. The controls are set correctly when milk or juice is as cold as you like and when ice cream is firm." The beverage is as cold as I like (the fridge temp is around 40- 42 degrees), so that's okay. I've only have ice cream sandwiches (no ice cream in a carton) and they're somewhat firm. The pieces of meat seem to take the same amount of time to thaw out in the fridge, so I guess the freezer temperature is okay. I know I can adjust the freezer control dial if I wish. I actually spent less on this Whirlpool refrigerator than I did on the Whirlpool DesignerStyle in October 1988. This was on sale, so the savings allowed me to get the 5 year warranty which lets me have some peace of mind. This is a basic, simple fridge, but that's all I wanted. I didn't want to worry about sophisticated sensors, touch control, and app controlled parts not working.

The inside dimension indicates the usable space is 21.5 but my I can't fit the same pots or dishes compared to my older Kenmore refrigerator. Adjusting the shelves does not help. You can see the height of this refrigerator is physically shorter. In addition, there is a small hole in the bottom of the freezer door where Whirlpool fills the insulation. This is exposed and does not have even a silver paint to hide the hole. Whirlpool and Home Depot customer service was to quick response with replacing the refrigerator, but I was told by the delivery personnel the hole is normal. Also, the air cooling does not appear to be evenly distributed internally. The freezer and the bottom level seems to cause a lot of water condensation. Lowering the temperature helps but everything freezes, even the bottom refrigerator area including the vegetables.

The roomy top freezer is assessible for a short person like me, and the Refrigerator door holds a lot of containers. There is no rear top to bottom metal grid on outside of the unit to clean. Very satisfied with my choice, an excellent value.
