5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Biscuit with SteamClean Option is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1888.

When you use the oven the control panel gets so hot you can't touch it and there is a very strong smell of electrical getting hot. Repairman was out and said it gets very hot and he would call whirlpool. Whirlpool called me and said that's just the way it is. Talked to Home Depot and they said there was nothing they could do. So sad to bad. I won't use stove because of fire. Bought at Home Depot in Alpena Michigan. I've had this stove 15 days as of writing this. No more whirlpool products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Control panel broke after 1 year This is the second Whirlpool that I had to buy because the control panel blew out. At least the first oven lasted longer than 10 years. But, after purchasing my second unit, the control panel blew out after 1 year and 1 month. Conveniently right after the 1 year warranty expired. Home Depot offered no solution. Whirlpool offered no solution except to have me pay $365 for a new panel plus labor. Also, the lower heating element is under the bottom pan and is inefficient at providing enough lower heat to cook properly. Everything takes twice the amount of time to cook, especially cheese cake. Save your money and avoid this product.

Range is very nice, but wish Whirlpool would have paid a bit more attention to detail. The corner of the cooktop has a bunch of black silicone caulking that looked like scratches. I tried to remove this caulk with a credit card so as not to scratch the glass or white finish, but just can not get it all off the cooktop. I have attached a few pictures for viewing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very satisfied Just purchased and received this whirlpool range. I've cooked on it a few times and I'm very satisfied. One thing to watch out for. The drawer doesn't hold a lot as far as weight goes so we just put tops in there. I would recommend this product.

FYI - I have to laugh when I read that consumers think they will have 20 plus years from new appliances today, WRONG!! If you get 5 years from these defective appliances manufactured today, consider yourself lucky. This is due to using inferior engineering to self-destruct within 5 to 8 years to make more money with each purchase. Built-in obsolescence!! Definition: (Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence in industrial design and economics is a policy of planning or designing a product with an artificially limited useful life, so it will become obsolete (that is, unfashionable or no longer functional) after a certain period of time.) I have appliances over 30 years old and am afraid to purchase these deficient products sold today. The guts are all the same, you are paying more money for cosmetics, not quality. I own an apartment building and used to put Kitchenaid DW in all units 30 years ago because they lasted. I was willing to pay more for quality and longevity. Yes, they too have this poor quality today. After 4 years, my new DW stopped working. Since Whirlpool is owned by Kitchenaid and costs less, I decided to buy this range 3 years ago, wire harness burned up. Electric ranges have less insulation that leaves the wires unprotected. Beware consumers!!! Five years ago my sister replaced all her appliances; I warned her about how poorly appliances are made today, did not listen, spent a fortune on this feature and that look, and has had to replace almost all of her appliances, frig, DW, range, never worked correctly and microwave. If we as consumers accept this shoddy, inferior engineering then we can expect to keep buying more shoddy appliances every 3 years. I refuse to purchase Kitchenaid just for the name and historical reputation. My first W&D lasted 20 years, a Maytag when they were built like battleships. I purchased my second W&D, a Maytag about 25 years ago. I am terrified to purchase today's inferior W&Ders even though they save water. Oh yes, Whirlpool/Kitchenaid owns Maytag. I am waiting for my 25 year old Maytag to die. The consumer is held hostage these days. Read the reviews and believe them. Those who write 4 or 5 STAR reviews have NOT owned their appliance very long. They have cheapened the bottom drawer so badly, once removed it is almost impossible to replace it, broiling pans are no longer included with an electric range. When self-cleaning mode is used, the grates no longer have their shine, and with moving them in and out, the porcelain finish flacks off. Oh yes, that is cosmetic and not covered. Stainless Steel in today's appliances rusts, that is also cosmetic and not covered. The cook tops must be made with inferior ceramic and scratches, that is also cosmetic -- not covered under warranty nor insurance plans. Even the white porcelain that holds the glass oven front rusts. We are all saps and the appliance industry knows it. I dare to write this review not only of this appliance but all manufacturers who use the same business format. NOTHING LASTS!! If you are happy to pay $100 per year for each of your appliances, then just go along with the propaganda reviews, I suggest that you complain as I am to wake up the manufacturers to STOP constructing appliances with BUILT-IN OBSOLESCENSE. To safe guard yourself, purchase an insurance policy that replaces the appliances; at least you may get 10 years from your original purchase plus the cost of insurance, plus purchase a hot plate, sooner or later you will need it.
