Judy,
I apologize for the error you are experiencing with your freestanding range. You can get a copy of the Use and Care Guide from the product page under the Info & Guides section. As for the control lock error, my suggestion would be to unplug the appliance. Leave it unplugged for several minutes and allow the control panel to reset, then plug back in. If you can not access the plug, then shut the breaker off for several minutes and then turn back on. If this does not work, then call The Home Depot/ Whirlpool Corporation Hotline at 877.461.3376, Option 2, Option 1. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance and being our customer. Since I received two OPPOSING responses to my question, WHICH ONE IS TRUE?

If the REAL answer is that you cannot leave these racks in the oven, does this manufacturer make the porcelain-coated racks that CAN be left in the oven during the cleaning cycle??????????????
Thank you.

When the repair tech came to repair my oven he reminded me that you CAN NOT keep the racks in the oven otherwise it will remove the shiny coating on them. I don't know about the porcelain racks

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great range! Lots of oven space Perfect for our home. Looks great and cooks evenly. It has convection which is great for browning food and has lots of stove space. Easy to clean. Only con is that it takes a while for the oven to pre-heat. September 2, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing We ordered the same stove from another vender and five times were sent a damaged stove (like something had been dropped on it). Then we ordered from Home Depot. The stove looked like it may have been dropped and was dented on the back near the floor. Since the damage couldn't be seen when the stove was installed, we decided to keep it. The stove top works, but the oven takes forever to preheat (30 minutes plus) and then when it supposedly reaches the appropriate temperature, it is actually only about half of that. We tried for three days to make it work and finally called Whirlpool. They confirmed that the oven was misbehaving and said they would send a repair person on Friday, but Friday came and nothing happened. We learned we had never gotten on the list for repairs because they were too busy. Now the repair person is scheduled to come this Friday. It has been weeks since we have had an oven to use. The whole experience has been very disappointing and we haven't seen the end yet. July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great features; excellent product Best cooking range that I've used for cooking. I've used the different cooking rings for stovetop cooking. I love the dual rings for cooking size; no problem in figuring out which knobs to turn and in which direction. As for the oven, I love the size of the oven; the convection, baking and broiling features; the hidden oven heating elements; the large window on the oven door; and the three racks, one of which is a split rack. I've cooked the Christmas ham and turkey and sides in it. It worked great for those foods and for food for everyday meals. I've baked cakes and cookies in it. All turned out well. The other night I cooked a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies and fit all four cookies sheets in the oven at the same time. As for the drawer space under the oven, I have enough space to keep five cookie sheets, two 24-cup mini muffin pans, and two pizza pans nestled in there to maximize drawer space. Would I have tried to keep pots and pans in that space? No, they would not have fit, but the drawer works for the type of pans that I keep in there. I haven't used the aqua lift cleaning feature yet for the oven, but the stove top cleaner that came with it works fine to keep the stove top clean. As for the installation, my brother the electrician installed the oven and double checked the wires and electrical strength coming from the circuit breaker box. After much review of many ranges, I'm glad that I went with this oven. I hope to get many years out of it. February 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by this stove looks great cook top works awsome convection cooking is a treat and the fact it saves you time and money is another great benefit for sure a keeper January 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Whirlpool Gold 6.2 CuFt Electric Range The range is extremely nice looking and fits well in our kitchen. We like everything about it except for 2 design items. We replaced an 11 year old Whirlpool range and although the appearance is similar, the spacing of the burners is different and not as convenient. The pots seem to be closer to each other and to the edge. The second item, and it might be because of the large oven, is the reduced size of the lower storage drawer. We can no longer store all the items, such as roasting trays and cake cooling racks into this drawer. It basically only can hold a broiling pan. January 13, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great stove unfortunately arrived with broken glass Looking forward to installing and using this as it is a nice design that matches my current refrigerator. April 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome stove! The stove heats up almost immediately and we have no trouble cleaning the surface, as its easily cleaned. It's very high- tech compared to our last oven and we love the stainless steel and black color! So sleek! March 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great oven size; Top always looks dirty The Home Depot team was on time, removed the old oven, and installed the new oven effortlessly. I love the size of the new oven. The interior is much larger than my old one. I like flat-top ovens, but the finish on this one is harder to keep clean than the old one. The black glass finish shows smudges easily and you can see any dust. Overall, I like the oven and when the top is polished, it looks great. If you don't mind the maintenance of the finish, it's a great oven. December 18, 2014
