Customer Questions & Answers

Are special induction pots/pans required?

Do I need to buy special magnetic bottom pots and pans for this induction range, or can I use the All Clad I already have? Thanks.
Asked by: Catface
Yes all pots should be ferromagnetic and should be FLAT on the bottom, if your pan is warped it will not work

Don't waste your time. Mine did not work... 30 days and still waiting... Another Review.... I purchased this cooktop a week ago. It has been majorly disappointing. After about three uses an error code, F47 popped up. A repairman came out, and couldn't fix it. We are now waiting on parts. Parts to fix a new stove!!!!!! We've been eating out, because, our brand new expensive stove DOES NOT WORK!! Avoid this appliance. The technology in theory is great, but in function it is a colossal failure. You WILL regret this purchase! Consider yourself warned! Have had a Worse experience. Don't by a whirlpool!!!

6.7 cu. ft. Double Oven Electric Induction Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Stovetop - Horrible ovens Would give 5 stars for the stovetop but both ovens are horrible. Not true to temp and cooks unevenly. 2nd time I self-cleaned the entire stove died. Had to replace lots of cards and tech suggested not using the self-cleaning options... either heat or steam. Will destroy (burn) up the controls. Wish I had not purchased this. It is out of warranty now so I'm afraid to use self-clean functions. Would not recommend this unit to anyone. Also it takes hours for the oven(s) to cool down so I have to listen to the fans for a very long time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Range Ever First, it only have 4 burners, but it states 5, which is a big problem. They sell as a 5 burners, it shows 5 burners on the top, but it only has 4. The one on the back left side supposedly have two burners in one, a medium and a large one, however, it has only a large one. I call tech support because I believed the medium one wasn't working, for my big surprise when the tech came he said that he does not understand why Whirlpool does that, showing a medium on the middle of the large one, whey it' states that has a medium in the middle because there's no medium one, only a large one and therefore it was all fine. everything working, I just bought a big Lie. So Whirlpool deceives it's costumers. Second, and this is what makes this range the worst ever. If you use any one of the the ovens, after is on for 4 minutes only, the fun starts and will stay on for the whole time you use it. It's loud, really loud. If after 5 minutes and with 140F you turn it off, the fun will continuously run for exactly 30 minutes. However, if you use it for about 30 minutes or more, the fun will start after only 4 minutes of use, it will run all the time and after you turn of, it will continually run for another 2 hours. Now you have a horrible noise in your kitchen and guess what, your electrical bill will go up, for a lot. Third problem, anything that you bake/cook on the oven takes for ever and ever. I had another Whirlpool before this one, some stuff that use to take about 20 minutes on our old one, now it takes at least 2 hours. Now this piece of junk not only is a time consuming, but again, my electrical bill it's away up because of the fun and because this thing just take to long to do anything. Piece of junk, that's what it is. The fact that Whirlpool brought this range to Canada and stop to produce in less then a year in the market should ring the bell big time. The concept is wonderful, if it would work without all this problems, but they don't even care to propose a solution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good Wife wanted double oven, I wanted induction cook top. With this unit we both got what we wanted. We have had for about a week and it works as advertised. The burner controls are on the cook surface and very convenient. With the boost feature you can boil water in 90 seconds! The other feature I love is that you can set a timer on a burner and it will automatically go off and unlike electric, when it goes off all heat stops. Perfect for cooking rice it does not burn to bottom of pan. We have only used the upper oven so far. It heats up quickly but has a fan that is a bit loud and that fan stays on after you shut down the oven for a good 20 - 30 minutes after during it's cool down period. I purchased the 5 year warranty just in case since this is a brand new model. Happy so far!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wanted to LOVE it Forever I purchased this oven about a year ago with high hopes and expectations. I am a avid baker and cook large meals multiples times a weeks- so my oven gets lots of use! I love the double oven, especially the small upper one which is great for everyday meals. It is a great size and typically preheats quickly. The induction is great for cooking. Shortly after I purchased the oven I started getting an error message "feature not available" when I would try to turn on the oven. The problem was sporadic. I called for service and the service agent "fixed" it by hard wiring a sensor on. Shortly after that the problem continued. After several months I was able to determine that this happened only when I was using the heating elements on the stovetop. I called for more service. This time I was able to reproduce the problem for the service agent. He ordered and eventually replaced the main control panel and touchpad. The problem continued. After the agent, spent several hours working on the problem, including a conference call with Whirlpool it was decided that this was not an error and it was normal operation. They decided that the oven goes into "power save" mode. It is strange and frustrating that Whirlpool considers it "normal" operation not to be able to use your oven and stovetop at the same time. If there are any other owners out reading this, could you please try to boil some water on your stovetop and then turn on your oven and see if it works. In addition to this the oven sometime decides that it does not want to heat to my desired temperature. I will set it for 350 and after 30 minutes the temp setting on the touch sensor will say 350 but I can stick my hand in and touch the racks which are warm and not hot. This is a problem if you actually want to bake anything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love the double ovens and the induction top. Overall I am happy with the stove, however the oven fans drive me insane. They run for over an hour some nights after the oven is off and they are LOUD! Much louder than my dishwasher. This needs to be addressed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some Likes and Some Dislikes Have owned the unit since Dec 2012 and cook 3 meals, 3x a day so it gets used. My first comment is that was obviously designed by someone who does not cook much! The timer beeps ONCE every minute. If you happen to not be in the room when it beeps you may take the trash out or go to get the mail between beeps without knowing your time is up. Not good if baking, etc. I have to use a manual timer to supplement. It is NOT Energy Star. The cooktop beeps if you put anything on top of it - I guess its a safety feature? But, very annoying if you use your stove top for staging a meal, etc. The top oven is wonderful! Nothing big/tall will fit but it is perfect for most dinners and can be tweaked to suit how you are used to baking. However, the rack does rub against the door when you take food out and there is not much space for your hands. Just something you need to learn to deal with. Haven't used the bottom oven yet - no need yet. Love the Induction! Takes a little getting used to but you can get a dinner started and done in no time once you get the hang of it. Another BIG negative is that the 220 cord on the back of the unit attaches on one side and there is no cavity for it to slip into when you push the unit back. The cavity is on the opposite side of the back which is ludicrous and a total design flaw. As a result, the unit does not push back all the way. Mine sticks out at least 1.5" past the front of my counter! Just hate that.... The unit is beautiful - you will like the styling. Hope this helps you make your expensive decision!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Service I have had this range for 30 days now and has worked a total of 3 minutes. I have been in contact with Whirlpool customer service with the promise of over night parts service. 8 days later no parts. Called back and they say I should receive parts in 2 days. 32 days with out a range... not good .... Go with another brand... Home Depot Great!!! Whirlpool not!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed reviews but would still recommend I love the induction cooktop and convection oven features of this range and those features have performed perfectly! My only complaints have to do mostly with design. With an induction cooktop, placement of pots on the "burners" is important and both the cooktop itself and the areas for the "burners" are black, so they are hard to see. Also, I would much prefer to have the large "burner" in front as it seems I use this one the most. The "touchpad" controls are not very responsive and I frequently have to make several attempts at turning things on, off, adjusting settings, etc. Conversely, I do not at all care for the hyper-sensitive "feature" of the cooktop that buzzes endlessly if anything but the proper induction cookware (ferromagnetic) is set on it. I think most people set their cookie sheets on the cooktop when they come out of the oven; you can't do that with this range and there is not a setting to shut that feature off. Finally, one thing I expected after reading up on this model was an exceptionally easy-to-clean range; however, I have found it to be exactly the same as my former, 15-year-old range in that aspect. Overall, though, I would still purchase this range for the features and price range I was looking for. The induction and convection features have made it worth the trade-off for me.
