A dryer with intelligence. This 7.0 cu. ft. Whirlpool electric dryer features the AutoDry system, which senses when clothes have reached the right temperature and stops the cycle to save energy. It has 13 automatic cycles and 4 temperature settings to give you precise control over your drying. And the Wrinkle Sheild feature periodically tumbles, rearranges, and fluffs the load to help keep wrinkles from forming. Now that's smart.

According to the installation instructions for this dryer, it requires 4-wire direct wire connection instead of 3. So, I guess the answer to your question is likely to be no, although I have not asked the delivery/installation guy when they were here.

Pops,
When purchasing a new dryer, you need to purchase a new dryer cord also. You can not use an old cord on a new appliance, it will void the warranty. This is to ensure safety and use a new cord with a new appliance. Thank you for viewing this dryer.

We asked the same thing when we ordered ours in store, the service lady told us they will not install it with your old hookup or plug because of safety reasons and we had to purchase both the vent that leads outside and a new plug for them to install free.

I imagine you can, but when purchased from Home Depot, you must purchase the electric cord as part of the package. I didn't have a choice. The delivery men hooked it all up for me. I didn't have to do a thing. That's the power of "Home Depot".

mlea,
The power cord is not provided with the dryer. Electric dryers do not come with cords in general. This is because homes have two types of outlets which you stated either a 3 or 4 prong. During checkout, you will be prompted to choose the cord that fits your outlet. A new cord is required for a new dryer. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool dryer.

The back of the dryer is basically flat, with the exception of the vent that you would need to allow for it to come out. And since the vent would likely need to bend S-shaped to go out, you should factor that into your consideration.

7.0 cu. ft. Electric Dryer in White-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1897.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simpe features I like the features of this unit because they are simple to understand and the unit works very well for my needs. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for me I ordered this by phone after looking at it online and I was so pleasantly surprised when it was installed. The inside is larger than I thought and holds a lot. The cycles work properly so I don't have to keep adding time. It is replacing a very expensive and service requiring "bells & whistles" electronic machine I had previously. I have learned my lesson. The simpler the better. This is a fantastic buy for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've always preferred the newer models with all the bells and whistles but due to a budget constraint we decided to give this machine a try. We love it! It's excellent value for the money and the results exceeded my expectations. The temperature sensor is spot-on and the clothes have less wrinkles than other machines we've used. As odd as this may sound, we bought this together with an unmatched fancy high efficiency LG washer. I see no problem in doing that although everybody else finds it weird. I just don't understand why everyone wants a matching set when these will sit behind a closed door in the laundry room! Just buy what you need and spend what you have :) We've only had it for a month so I hope the long term performance will be as good as today! Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Updated Dryer for the Oldies We had an older set, and just knew, with the grinding whirring sounds the dryer was making, and the off-balanced throbbing pulsations coming from the washer, it was time. Time to get a new set. And that's just what we did! The delivery team did an excellent job. They were very kind and helpful, and even hooked it up for us. So the dryer has many features, and you might like the whole Eco-Green movement it's joined, but at the same time be rather skeptical about it drying the clothes, right? Well, let me tell you. We have placed several loads into this big baby, and it's dried every single little thing, except I discovered one sock wasn't completely dry. That's pretty good! It has a drying sensor to do this. We like that! And it's nice and quiet, you can hear it working but it's not as loud as the one we had before. It also has a wrinkle shield cycle; we like that! The only con we have is, even though it does signal us when it's done, it makes a LOUD buzzing noise! Like, an alert that something just died! We're contemplating turning it off because we can hear it anywhere we are in the house. But at least it tells us it's done! A final note: the dryer will not come delivered with the dryer cord or a dryer duct. But here are the ones I got and like a lot: dryer duct (Model # WX08X10075DS; Store SKU # 505199), dryer cord (Model # PT400L). Bring your old cable adapter plug into the store to make sure you have the right one, because I don't know if your plug will be different from mine. Also, the duct might have a bad review on here, but I really like mine, it's not flimsy and is very firm once connected. Okay, so you found the dryer, but I would highly recommend taking a look at its wishy-washing sister, Model # WTW4800XQ, Store SKU # 655933. They both work really well together, and Whirlpool is a very reputable company!
Date published: 2013-02-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price! Great Results! This is a simple plain white dryer under $500 that gets the job DONE. It's big on the inside and dries clothes much faster than my old dryer. No more rows of clean washed clothes waiting to be dried, because my dryer couldn't keep up with my washer. Now a load in my washer is done so are the clothes in my dryer and so on. No regrets on this purchase, I love my dryer.
Date published: 2014-03-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it's supposed to - dry clothes... but also does it quickly and fairly quietly, so I'm happy.
Date published: 2013-08-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dryer! Love this dryer. My old one took at least 2 full cycles to dry my clothes. This one-20 minutes! Even towels and jeans! No more spending the entire day waiting for my clothes to dry.
Date published: 2012-10-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Dryer We've had this dryer for over a month now and haven't noticed any issues. It's very quiet. This is a very basic dryer with a few interesting features. It has an automatic drying feature which cuts the dryer off after certain adjustable levels of dryness (lack of moisture) are detected. You just set how dry you want the clothes and it runs until it is dry...supposedly. This is a good idea but I've found that most of the time it doesn't work even at the highest setting especially for towels. I'm not sure who doesn't expect their clothes to be completely dry after a cycle but okay. This machine also has a 45-minute tumble feature after the load is dry to prevent wrinkling if you can't get to the load immediatly, however, this feature is only available when using the auto-dry setting. The thing I hate most about this machine is that the lint screen is on top of the machine. Whirlpools use a large lint screen and when you remove it, it gets dust all over the top of the machine. Other brands use a pocket type screen in the door jamb which doesn't seem to get dust everywhere like the Whrilpools do. Overall I think this is a decent dryer.
