Customer Questions & Answers

Bucket is said to be 70 pints. Could it really be this large? That would be 8.75 gallons!

I'm looking for one that could run the whole day on one bucket, as I don't want to run a hose across my basement for the rest of our days, but wow, that would be a 8.75 gallon bucket. Is it really that big?
Asked by: jschmoe
jaschmoe, The bucket does not hold 70 pints of water. The size reference refers to how much water the dehumidifier is able to process out of the air withing a 24 hour period. If you have a really humid area that you want to run this appliance that would fill up the bucket within a few hours and/or the appliance would run all the time, then I would suggest running the dehumidifier to a drain or the outside. The nice thing about the bucket is that the unit will shut off when it is full. This way there is little chance of flooding or water damage, but you would have to dump water out after each fill. Thank you for viewing this appliance.

Customer Reviews

70-Pint 2-Speed Dehumidifier, Energy Star is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Solution We were in need of a new dehumidifier as our current one was quite a few years old and the compressor kept freezing up. We decided to go from a 45 pint to a 72 pint model as we speculated that our old dehumidifier was overworked trying to keep our 4 room basement dry that includes a shower room and a laundry room. It was a success and our new model works fantastic. So much so, that it needed emptied within 3 hours of it's initial operation! Everything stays completely dry and it does a fantastic job. The unit is easy to operate and very light to move around if necessary. The continuous fan feature also helps to keep the air circulating within the basement as well. We couldn't be happier!! Thank you for such a great product and we will definitely recommend it in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think I found a keeper First impressions, as they say, are the best. Cut the straps, lift off the box, lift the unit off the base. Plug it in and stand back. Toughest part of initial setup was removing the tape from the bucket & sides. As other reviews note, putting the bucket back in, tilt it back a little first and push. Not too hard. Biggest surprise was shipping. Everything said April 21-23. It arrived April 14th. The compressor is so quiet you cannot hear it over the fan, which is not very loud either. I'm happy with that also. I'm using the bucket now, but I noticed the cap for the hose on back. When I hook the hose on and run it into my sump drain, I don't expect to see or notice it for a long time. Now, if it lasts the entire three years of the extended warranty, it will be worth the extra $35 for the lack of aggravation. Note: be nice to it. It is thin plastic and won't take a lot of abuse in place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pulls a lot of water out of the air. Functions as advertised - it dehumidifies well. Mostly convenient and easy to use. I do not expect the plastic bucket to last for years - it could be a bit easier to remove from the unit when emptying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best one so far Have had for about 2 mos. now. Product came complete easy to set up and use. I have a 24 by 40 foot basement. It reduced my humidity from 80 % to 36% in about 2 days and has kept it at 36% unit is quiet and works as it should, now if it just last longer than my last unit (which was a different model only lasted 16 mos.) I will be a happy man. So far so good! Would recommend product at this time! p.s. Home Depot on line ordering was superb!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth a durn The dehumidifier worked fine if you want to dump the bucket. But it is suppost to work if you connect a water hose to the drain, it did not work at unless you leaned the dehumidifier side ways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good dehumidifier. Easy to set up and use. Has a carry handle and is easy to move if you so choose. The old one we had threw off a lot of heat, this one runs nice and cool. It does make a fair amount of noise, nothing horrible but it's certainly not quiet. Since we have it in the basement, it's not a problem for us. Water collection container is easy to remove and reinstall.
