Customer Questions & Answers

what does the installation cost? does that include removing old existing installed DWER?

Asked by: Margoh
DO NOT BUY DISHWASHERS FROM HOME DEPOT. The delivery people do NOT install in Massachusetts nor Rhode Island. I have to call my own plumber to do it. What an inconvenience! I ordered online and there were no warnings that I would have to hire my own plumber.

Any demos around? Does handle have a latch to open door?

Tried looking for a demo but they don't exist anywhere. Hard to buy something sight unseen. Does the handle have a latch underneath? I had a DW with one and it broke a few times rendering DW useless until repaired so I don't want to go that route again.
Asked by: azgal
I have this model (2 years old) and no it doesn't have a latch. I'm actually ordering another one today for our new house that we just moved in to.

What's the maximum drain line distance installation for the dishwasher pump to work properly?

Once the drain drains completely there is always water in the dishwasher. our dishwasher is about 15' from the closest drain. Can this be the cause of the problem?
Asked by: JLCM
The maximum length of the drain hose that can be used is 10'. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Customer Reviews

Front Control Dishwasher in Black with Stainless Steel Tub is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is poorly designed. So Disappointed! After much research, we selected another model by Whirlpool. However, our counter height forced us to substitute this ADA compliant model. Not much choice. What are the problems? The top shelf is designed so that whatever cup or glass is put in, falls over when it is closed. The tines are not designed for bowls. The bottom shelf does not pull out smoothly, but like there is a speed bump. So plates move around, after we have finally pushed them into spaces that, once again, are not flexible. And I have to listen to my husband repeat how much he hates this dishwasher every time he loads it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth your money!! My husband bought this dishwasher for me and I was so excited until I actually used it. The basket that holds the silverware is segmented and falls apart. The racks are lightweight and cheap. They won't stay in the grooves and I have to physically pick them up and put them inside. Dishes won't get clean and are spotty unless you use half the soap only in the left compartment, use a rinse agent, and use hi-temp wash.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disapointed in this model Very poor design, especially for the price tag. This dishwasher did not fit the required opening very well. The space inside the dishwasher is very small and very disapointing. It is very difficult to fit anything of any size into the racks. Whirlpool fell very short with this deisgn and should rethink this model. I would not recommend this model to anybody. Our last Whirlpool dishwasher lasted less than 3 years before the pump went out. The cost of repairing that pump led my wife and I to purchase new. We picked the comparable unit, but are very disapointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me Have had this dishwasher for a week and am very disappointed. The top rack is very small and 3" shorter than the bottom rack. Very difficult to load and doesn't allow for large loads or larger items. It is also very noisy. We actually thought something was wrong with the motor and had a repairman come to check it out. Nothing was wrong -- it is just loud. We are not keeping this appliance. Unfortunately, can't take it back to the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Interior too small and inflexible. Hard to load How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways: I had to buy this model because the regular height models (34 1/2") were too tall for my space. I had done lots of research before I chose what I thought would be the best dishwasher for us, at the best price. Unfortunately, when it was delivered, it was too tall. So, back to work, with a very small pool of options. This model is much smaller inside than my previous one. The interior is poorly designed. The tines for loading dishes are so straight that bowls or plates with a rim are hard to load. Actually, bowls are almost impossible to load. The upper rack is also hard to load, and one lovely cup is already broken, because it fell over after it was loaded. The racks do not pull out easily or smoothly, especially the lower one, so dishes already loaded knock around when I add more plates. I am washing more things by hand rather than fight with the rigid setup. It seems to wash well, though I am intimidated by all the instructions about maintenance for performance. So, all told, I am disappointed (and my husband, who is the main dishwasher is even more so). Our previous dishwasher was 15 years old. Meaning we will hate this one for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a charm I have enjoyed my dishwasher very much. The dishes come out very clean. Could have a little more room though. Not much clearance from top of dishwasher to top rack, for large mixing bowls, but that being said, it has been so nice to have. Not too noisy. I run it before going to bed, so I don't hear it anyway. But my husband has not complained about the noise yet. :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but efficient Works well, inside capacity is small, but works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have done my homework Bought this dishwasher due to kitchen renovation. Needed a DW is a hurry. Had it for two months now. It does clean the dishes well and it looks nice. However, the capacity is much less than my old KitchenAid. The top rack is 1/3 smaller than the bottom rack. The top rack is not adjustable, so forget about putting wine glasses or to-go coffee cups on the top rack. The plastic connectors on the silverware baskets do not keep the baskets together as a unit which I find annoying. The basket compartments are all the same size so if you have a small plastic lid or small item that shouldn't be put on the rack, there is really no place to put it. My husband calls the silverware baskets flimsy. As for the sound level, it is very loud. When it was first installed, we thought there was a problem with the motor because of how loud it was. The repair person came only to say nothing was wrong. It is just a loud machine. I bought the Whirlpool to match my refrigerator which I was not replacing. I am very disappointed with this DW and will replace it very soon. I'm doing my research now. Hindsight is always 20-20.
