We did extensive research of this and other comparable refrigerators and found that this one fit our needs exactly. The shelves on the doors of the freezer and refrigerator are deep and provide very usable storage space. The meat bins with temperature control as well as the humidity controls for the fruits and vegetables are very useful. Overall we are extremely pleases with this product.

The exterior stainless steel doors rust in sporadic locations. According to a quick google search, it is a widely known issue that Whirlpool has not addressed. We have never used abrasive cleaners, only wipes that are made for stainless appliances. We use them on all of our stainless appliances. The fridge is the only one that now has 10+ areas of pitting rust. It continues to spread! What the heck?
Secondly, the ice maker stopped working at 16 months. First it was just the auger that stopped turning...which was inconvenient but not the end of the world. It still produced ice, but we had to open the door and pull ice out instead of having it dispensed. Now it has stopped producing ice altogether. We had the repair guy out today. Apparently, the motor for the auger and the actual ice maker are not receiving power and longer. The certified tech said it was either the main control board or bad wiring somewhere from the control board to the ice maker. For a small fortune, we can try putting in a new board. If the new board doesn't work, we will then know it is a wiring issue. If it is a wiring issue, we will have paid for a new board that was not needed, and we are out of luck completely on the wiring issue. Part of the wiring is sealed within the freezer door. A new freezer door costs nearly as much as the fridge. Part of the wiring is sealed in the back of the fridge. It is impossible to open the seal without breaking the fridge, because the back is a sealed system.
But it does keep our food cold...just don't put anything the top shelf of the fridge because it will freeze.
Thanks for the 1 year warranty Whirlpool! You timed it perfectly!What a joke.

I bought this refrigerator to replace a counter-depth freezer-on-top Maytag unit which was over 20 years old and showing its age. I've had the new one for six months, and I've not had any problems with it. The brushed stainless accents look great against the White Ice finish. I took one star off because on the right top side edge, a small amount of paint had been rubbed off by the styrofoam packing during shipping - it wasn't Home Depot's fault and it was easily fixed with touch-up, but nonetheless it should not have happened. Other than that, it's a very good unit and I'm quite happy with it.

This Frig has driven me crazy! The person who designed it has never used a Refrigerator. The Ice Maker is a Joke. Has a "Fast Ice" feature that makes no difference in the SLOW rate it makes Ice. From first start up to half full took 24 hours and "full" is less than a 5 lbs. bag of ice. The Ice dispenser clogs easily and the ice freezes together in the bin and then will not come out at all. The shelves are fixed. Not adjustable at all. The Top shelf is a good height for large container, but the put the light assembly right in front of it. if you are careful, you can slip a gallon of milk under it and onto the shelf. Almost all other Quart size bottles need to be tipped to get under the light and onto the shelf. Freezer shelves are also fixed. There is one pull out bin on the bottom which is about the right size, but it could use another shelf if they were adjustable. It is NOT quiet when running! Look for a better unit, even if it costs more. I have cursed this one now for over a year and pray that it will fail prior to the end of the extended warranty I bought!

Only installed 1 month plus so far. All is well now...we'll see as time goes by, but I feel it will prove to be durable enough. Delivered with a veg. drawer problem. Wheels on drawer not assembled correctly. Service call solved that problem quickly and service rep. was very knowledgeable and helpful with operational instructions. Happy now, nice refrigerator. Wife is happy so I'm also happy!

This is the 2nd White Ice Counter Depth refrigerator I have purchased from HD in the past 2 years and I would never recommend this refrigerator to anyone! The first one has had many issues, beginning with the ice maker. It freezes constantly and we have to pour hot water on the coils to un-freeze it. The controls are confusing and many of our guests cannot figure it out and end up turning off the ice maker (this is not the reason why the coils are freezing) I did not want to purchase a 2nd one but there are very few white counter depth refrigerators and the one I wanted was on back order for months so I reluctantly purchased another one. We use these in rental vacation units where space is limited so we really needed the counter depth. HERE IS THE WORST PART. I had the 2nd refrigerator delivered a few days before we arrived to finish the renovation and, when we got there, the ice make did not work. Because it has was over the 48 hour mark since delivery, it could not be replaced and I was forced to work with Whirlpool customer service under the warranty. Remember, the ice NEVER worked. A technician was called to inspect it and he indicated the door was damaged and it needed to be replaced. So, rather than send me a new refrigerator that would have taken a few weeks at most, they told me the door had to be built upon order and it would take 6 weeks. 12 weeks later, no door. I called customer service and they told it could take up to 12 weeks but it should not be too much longer. I have made several calls to the service company who will receive the door and they state they are "just the middle man" and have no control over when they will receive it. IT HAS NOW BEEN 19 WEEKS and still NO DOOR! I have never in my life written a review for any product but I feel it is my duty to warn people about this refrigerator. DO NOT BUY IT! I have purchased 2 and have had many issues with both refrigerators so this is not limited to one issue. Trust me, save yourself the headache and buy another brand. I asked Whirlpool's customer service if there was anyone I could speak with who had more authority to make things happen and I was told I had to write a letter. Really??? NO email address? No one with any authority to speak with? I called Home Depot, where I purchased the refrigerator from, and they have no authority either but you can bet I am going to keep complaining up the chain to Home Depot. Perhaps they will think twice about doing business with Whirlpool. I doubt my complaints will have any affect but I will keep trying until I get results. Seriously, do not buy this. If you have any issues at all, Whirlpool is terrible to work with! There is ZERO accountability!!

Just got this and the ice maker doesn't work! Made 6 cubes so far, went back to HD and they were very helpful to resolve the issue. We went ahead and got the Samsung Counter Depth (something we should have done in the first place).
