Answer:
There are two heights because the actual refrigerator case/box is one height while the doors are slightly higher than that. If your doors will be sticking out from the designated space, it should be fine. If not, i would use the taller of the two heights.

Answer:
maggie,
This Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator should fit. The height to top of door is 70.13", but unless your overhang comes out past the door, then it will be fine. Typically whatever is above your refrigerator only comes out so far and doesn't cover the whole unit. As long as this is the case for you, the appliance cabinet at 68.63" will just fit. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home

jbacon,
The water filter is not installed on the refrigerator. But, the filter is located in the interior. Upon installation, all you or the delivery person has to do is remove packaging and insert the water filter cartridge into the water filter housing. It is simple to do, then you will have both filtered ice and water. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fridge with plenty of space. Well designed. I am very satisfied with this product. I have absolutely no complaints about it! Easy to use, has great features. The video about this product is spot on. I would recommend I to anyone. However, I didn't pay full price for it, msrp is $1999.99. I got it at a nice discount. Extremely great value for the price I paid. I don't think this fridge is worth $2k, but it is definitely worth it even if you only get $200 off. You can lock the water/ice so kids can't use it. Set the temperature for the top and bottom. Easy filter control. Nice lighting options. SO easy to use. Great for anyone willing to spend a little extra for a good quality product May 13, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Ice Maker! We are very unhappy with this purchase. Our biggest complaint is the ice maker. Ice gets stuck in the auger and then it starts to throw ice out on the floor when it releases. Then at times, ice gets stuck in the chute and then flows all over the floor when it releases. We have had repair men out 2 x's under the warranty. We did read the reviews before our purchase 6 months ago but now see the current reviews are more detailed about this problem. We are writing now to inform others before they buy. We really miss our old ice maker, even though the refrigerator was 20 years old! And yes, the handles do scratch and nick during regular use. See our photos attached. June 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I like the features this fridge has, but not so much the quality so far. The features it comes with are great, but I am not so sure about their performance. The ice dispenser sometimes gets ice clogged up (unawares...where ice is left in the neck of the dispenser which you can not see) which melts slowly...down the unit an onto the floor. Furthermore, the handle to the freezer door has come off several times. It is easily reattached, but is surprising when it happens...it just doesn't seem to want to stay put. This happens from regular use...nothing weird happening here! Finally, while the fridge itself looks good, the handles have already shown multiple scratches from??? regular use. Our finger nails? I mean, really, what could scratch a handle? I bought this unit bc I trusted the brand and because the unit looked like stainless w/o spending the $ on stainless. However, I'm not so sure it was worth the minimal savings than just getting the stainless? Oh and the seal on the freezer is starting to separate from the door already...yet we've only owned a month. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I couldn't ask for anything more at this price This french door refrigerator got all the features I wanted. You can turn on/off the ice maker, it got control pad lock feature which is great if you got kids just to keep them from changing the settings. It looks good and I got it for a great price. Thanks, HD May 13, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for the price One of the deciding factors in going with this unit was the "satina" finish as I dislike constantly cleaning off fingerprints on stainless steel doors. In that respect I am quite pleased. However, like so many other owners, I find that the ice maker is very poorly designed. Ice will drop out and hit the floor 5 - 10 minutes after it was last used. The quality of the plastic drawers seems awfully cheap. I bought a 5 year extended warranty (something I never purchase) and from the reviews I've seen, 'm glad I did. May 7, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of outside ice maker & water dispenser I have owned for 1 month and the ice maker is really bad. There are only 3 in our family and it can not make enough ice for us. It has very small cubes and the ice cube box does not hold many trays of ice. It also gets stuck in the hole where it dispenses the cubes. The metal piece that rotates in the ice box gets frozen and will not make cubes. It also crushed the ice and all the time instead of making cubes. Very poor. I have my last Whirpool for 23 years and it was great. Loved the ice maker. Water dispenser is very small trickle of water. March 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by French Door monochrome refrigerator - great fridge We bought our refrigerator a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed it. The adjustable shelves make it easy to make room where needed. We love the pull out freezer which provides much more freezer space than our previous side-by-side. The ice and water dispenser opening on the front of the fridge is nice and tall so medium sized water bottles can easily fit, which is great for kids. The only con to that though is the ice misses the normal sized cups if you don't hold it up high enough. The front panel is basically a touch screen so it's easy for everyone to use. The only other thing we really notice is the slight high-pitched hum it makes. You get used to it and depending on the kitchen layout, it may be a non-issue. Overall this has been a great fridge so far and it is a definite upgrade from our old side-by-side. May 29, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by poor ice maker We have had this fridge for only 3 months and I am not crazy about it. It is really expensive for the poor quality. I am so disappointed that all the reviews I am now reading were posted AFTER I purchased it from people who have owned it just over a year! The ice maker stinks, does not produce enough ice, doesn't push the ice out and often gets stuck. We already need a new water filter for some reason and it has only been 3 months, its suppose to last 6. Not crazy about the plastic handles and the water takes SO LONG to come out! I wish I bought a samsung but No, I had to have every appliance from the same line...Ugh! And I know this is a stupid little thing but the whirlpool logo is barely glued on! Whirlpool just makes some products good and some not so good. I guess its like that with anything though. August 15, 2013
