Will Whirlpool actually deliver any of these that have been sold after the most recent promotion?

I ordered this a month ago and have had delivery rescheduled 4 times. Delivery keeps being rescheduled for a week later, than another week later. Now according to the latest reports it is on backorder until next year! I could have driven to the assemby plant and run one down the line myself and made it back home with it by now!

Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. I believe the best advice would be to talk to one of our many major appliance professionals. For any other questions, please visit your local Home Depot store or call our Appliance Hotline 1-800-455-3869.

Drawer clearance

If I have a wall on one side, what is the distance that the unit needs to be away from the wall in order to get the interior drawers of the ref. area to open?
Asked by: debbie
debbie, As long as you can open the doors to 90 degrees, then you will be able to access the interior drawers. If you added a couple of inches to accommodate the clearance of the door handle, then you will be okay. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

How do I get the left door to shut easily like the right one? Is the plastic 'stop' on the hinge removable to correct this problem?

Why are the doors designed this way?
Asked by: Rocky
We have the same problem with our newly bought Whirlpool refrigerator from Home Depot. If you don't check that the left door is shutt, it is often open. What can we do?

A lot of the negative reviews mention a noisy compressor that never stops running. Has this been fixed?

I found mention of an upgrade kit that fixes the initial engineering problems (noise, icemaker problem, freezing, etc.). If I order now, will I get a model that has been fixed, or will I be responsible for the upgrade kit? Thank you for your help.

Well. We just had our frig delivered last week 3/18/2015. It is making a loud humming/whistling noise constantly. I have called the helpline for a repair/maintenance and they have scheduled a visit. I have owned many refrigerators and none have ever made this much noise. I will returning this product if they cannot quiet down the operation.

I am interested in this refrigerator, but the reviews online have not been positive. What is the problem with leaking?

Asked by: scarleto1
According to the repairman who was here today to tell me that my 20 MONTH OLD Whirlpool refrigerator had a shot condenser, the condenser went because of " leaking" from somewhere! RUN! Find another brand! I was told he sees this in a lot of the new Whirlpool appliances! NOT the whirlpool we grew up with! Whirlpool CS told me given "IT's AGE" they can't help me!!! 20 months, REALLY?!

Gold 26.8 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator in Monochromatic Stainless Steel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 885.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk Worst refrigerator I ever owned. Way too loud. I can hear hear it running two rooms away with my cpap machine running.Less than three years old and has already had sealed system repair, ice forms inside, icemaker ices up, freezer door grinds as you open it and door shelves fall out. The last shelf to fall had a glass jelly jar that chipped my tile This piece of junk is soon to be replaced.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Product Bought this refrigerator 3 years ago and it has a major problem each of the last 3 years. It is currently not working for the past 4weeks now. I have an extended warranty however whirlpool farms out the service to a company called Appliance Repair Specialist out of Bakersfield Ca. ( 2 stars on yelp) what an amazing displeasure it has been doing business with these morons. They call and schedule an appointment and then call on the day of and cancel due to parts back order (3 times so far). About the same displeasure as dealing with Whirlpool who's had the parts on backorder for over a month telling me they can not do anything for me I need to deal with the Service company morons. Can you imagine not having any parts available for the lousy products they build. You would think that with products going out every year you own them there would be a whole boat load of parts around. Whirlpool does not care about quality of it's products or the quality of service it's customers receive. They also do not care about the quality of service that their contractors perform.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will never buy Whirlpool again. Ever. Our 3 year old fridge is a nightmare. It all started when my husband and I decided to build our first custom home. We wanted beautiful, more top-of-the-line appliances (we couldn't afford Viking at the time, but we thought we settled for second best), and at the time we had researched Whirlpool and GE the most. In the end, we decided on this model Whirlpool Gold, paying roughly $2500. This fridge is a little noisier than most, but this does not really bother me. Even as I sit here typing this in my living room I can hear the faint whir of a struggling motor. For 2 years, the only real complaint I had was the CHEAPY plastic drawers (one of which would always come off the track and sound like it was breaking in order to get it back into place). The other complaint was the odd placement of the tiny center drawer. I keep butter and cream cheese in it, but it's odd that in order to get to it you have to open both doors to get at it. Just a harmless poor design. This brings us to the nightmare of year 3. It begins with small leak dripping from the area of the filter. The leak then became a monsoon, and we unplugged the water line in frustration. Next, our freezer was not freezing. It was the temperature of the fridge, which was not the appropriate cool. We finally gave in and called an appliance repairman at this point. He said in many complicated words that our evaporator is bad. Not only is this a KNOWN problem of this fridge listed, but Whirlpool actually covers the cost of the part and partial labor of the issue. That being said, it is still a HUGE job, which raked in a whopping $600. On a 3 year old fridge. That was the Gold "top-of-the-line" quality. This didn't even cover the leak problem. That was another hefty fix. On a 3 year old fridge. Oddly, our repairman suggested we not even make the repairs (meaning he doesn't get paid), but to spend the money on a new fridge. He informed us that this fridge is known to need constant repairs. So we are getting a Viking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value We expected more room and ease of access and it has exceeded our expectation. The lower freezer compartment provides more than enough space and the drawers are easily accessible. The solid drawers are much nicer than the commonly used wire racks. The provisions for taller items was also a significant feature. As a engineer, wish I knew what all the different noises were in the refrigeration cycle. However, the noise level is much less than our old model and the efficiency rating are exceeded. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Many service calls We have had our refrigerator for just slightly over 3 years. Within the first year we had problems with the temperature control screen and the ice maker. We ended up getting an extended warranty to help us cover a just out of warranty service. I am now on hold for the 4th service call about leaking water and a stream of water coming out of the ice maker when dispensing water. New software has been installed for ice maker and a crack in a line replaced. Still more left to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a family We've had this now for over a year and I'm still in love with it. The temperature control drawer is amazing. We primarily use it for meat and it keeps it fresh and good for up to a week without having to freeze fresh ground beef, chicken, pork, etc. That's a huge deal when you're working 50 hours a week and still have to be home in time to cook for your family of 7. It's a game-changer!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
