White ice control panel color

Is the gray in the control panel and inside of the door on the white ice wall oven the same gray as that on the stainless steel wall oven? We have the stainless steel version of the microwave and I want to make sure the white ice will match before ordering.

Do you install and remove the old oven?
Asked by: Betsy
Yes, you pull the old oven and this one goes right in the same place. You may have to adjust the footpads based on the size of your cutout, but that's easy to do.

Consumer reports says this model ending in letters "AS" is not a convection oven. Home Depot advises it is. Who is correct?

Asked by: Lekkiman
Lekkiman, This Whirlpool Wall Oven does have the Convection cooking feature. You can bake items in either the traditional way or convection. I apologize for any misinformation you found. I did do a search on consumerreports.org and found the model stating it had Convection as a feature, maybe it has been updated. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Easy installation, although the shipment failed to come with a small foam strip that was supposed to go on the back of the control panel, up against the cabinet. I guess its supposed to protect the cabinet finish, but I installed it without the strip. Evidently, this was an afterthought by the manufacturer, as the installation instructions specifically mention where to call and what part number to ask for if the foam strip is missing from your package. Aside from being a little noisier than our previous wall oven, and having a control panel that could be more intuitive, it has been operating very well so far. My wife loves it, and therefore so do I!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing Owned exact same oven 2 years ago so we know how it should work. Designer should be fired. Thermostat is set for a 40 to 60 degree swing in oven temp; that means it is either cooling or frying the food. Cannot bake that way. Put in lasagna at room temp. Needed 2&1/2 hrs to heat up. Result:: burnt on the ends, cold in the middle. Set 400 degrees for warm up, will only reach 380, then it goes thru it's ridiculous cycle which cools it another 40 degrees. Following directions you have to press "start" 3 times. Ridiculous! There is something seriously wrong with this oven and I think it's the design. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy Fan I must admit I have not used the oven very much; but the fan runs quite a lot while cooking and continues to run for a long time afterward. I know it is a convection oven and I get that it must have a fan. But this one is very noisy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from avoid at all costs!! My one-star rating is too high for this thing, but there's no zero-star option given. I've had this oven for 2 years now, and I hate it so much that I come back here to vent periodically. I hate it so much that it has changed the way I cook - I used to use an oven almost every day, but because of this thing I've stopped doing that. Reasons: NOISE! (before during and after cooking. I agree with the user who said they just leave the kitchen when it's on; unfortunately I have an open kitchen plan that exposes the whole house to the noise. I have both the plain and convection versions of this oven, and they both do this. Yes, the non-convection has a fan that runs constantly.) PREHEAT time (it takes forever, with fan running the whole time, and actually requires an extra 15-20minutes to get to the temp it claims it is) COOL DOWN time, still with the fan running. The whole process, pre-heat thru cool-down, takes 90 minutes for 20-minute biscuits. Doesn't BROIL (the elements won't stay on). Also doesn't BAKE well - another reviewer simply said "this is not a baker's oven" and I couldn't agree more.) They blow a lot of HOT AIR from the vents (see the complaint below from the folks who can't use the cooktop because the oven is cooking their feet.) It also caused me to cancel my subscription to Consumer Reports, which rated it highly (apparently they don't cook much over there). Replacing these clunkers has not been an option, so I finally took a friend's advice and got myself a countertop convection oven. I checked out the reviews at Cook's Illustrated (no more Consumer Reports!) and got a Breville oven, and I love it!! It's everything these pieces of junk should be but are not. Highly recommended!! My two Whirlpool ovens are now used only to store extra pots and pans . . . .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I Hate It I can't put into words how disappointed I am in this oven. We just built a brand new home, and I picked the appliances so I have no one to blame but myself. As others have said, it is so loud!!!! I have an open floor plan and can hear it running from every single room in the house. It whistles too - not just a faint fan noise. I literally hate this thing and feel foolish for ignoring other's reviews of this appliance. Don't make the same mistake that I did. What makes me most upset is reading the reviews, Whirlpool has to know this is an issue. Yet they ignore it and keep selling this thing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great performance if you can tolerate a soft whistling noise We are pleased with the few months we've owned our new oven and find the performance very solid. Set temperatures are spot on when compared to our own thermometer and the capacity is slightly larger than our old oven. The tradeoff to a larger oven is a thinner less insulated wall necessitating a fan to dissipate the heat..... That fan seems poorly designed as it results in a whistling which is lost in a busy kitchen with an exhaust fan on but is audible when it's quiet. Leaving the door open after cooking is complete cools it down faster with less fan time. If noise is an issue for you, you may want to compare and consider otherwise. Performance for us so far has been excellent. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy As soon as you turn the oven on it begins making a humming or whistling noise. I assume it's from the cooling fan, but it is much louder than any other wall oven I've used in the past. A consistent, low level hum would eventually become white noise and could naturally be ignored. This noise, however, is different. It fluctuates up and down and is difficult to tune out. Also, once the oven is turned off, the sound continues for an hour or so, presumably while the oven cools down. The only solution I've found to this is to leave the door ajar once I've turned the oven off. This cools it off quicker and reduces the humming to about 10-15 minutes. Honestly, it makes me dread cooking. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
