Anonymous,
This cooktop is a 5 burner. You can not grill on top of the grates. However, there are many accessories that you can purchase such as a griddle or a grilling griddle that you can place on top of burners to get that function. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Answer:
Helen,
The burners on the low setting do allow for a Simmer and Keep Food Warm option. The flexibility of the burners has infinite control, meaning, each slight turn of the knob up or down will adjust the flame and heat output. There is not a specific setting so that way you can cook at the temperature you desire. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks and works great Recently purchased to replace old 5 burner cooktop. This one looks great on new soapstone countertop and backsplash. It was easy to install. The grates are easily lifted for cleaning. The burners are very responsive. Location of burners are better than the old one, this one allows a bit more space for each of the pots, especially the middle one. Only minor issue is that I wish the low could be just a little bit "lower" (not as hot). March 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great cooktop with the industrial look and a reasonable price We recently bought this cooktop for our kitchen remodeling project. We are happy with the Home Depot delivery service ahead of the scheduled time. The burners are very powerful and quite. It is very easy to clean the surface after each cooking experience. Loved it :-) November 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by installation was easy We really love this new cook top. It works great and heats quickly. The large burner is awesome. Cleaning is really easy too. January 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works great, but cannot clean it. I purchased my 36" Whirlpool cooktop 2 yrs ago. It cooks great, but te burners are too close to the base, and the Stainless steel gets hot and dicolors to a shade to brown around the burners. It does not come clean. August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very stable cooktop I was a little nervous about buying this since I only saw it on-line as my local stores did not have a whirlpool stove available. Other companies had grates that slid too easily and made my husband nervous about the stablity. This cooktop has heavy, deeply recessed grates that are not going anywhere! I upgraded to all stainless steel from a 12 year old gas cooktop, and this is actually the hottest burning stove top I have ever cooked on. Most things are great on low heat settings, so they heat quicker with less gas. Water boils faster. The grates are super close together, so it is like having one large surface. I've actually kept a couple smaller pots warming near one burner, so it is like having more than 5 burners. I haven't had any problems with clean-up, even with making donuts and having oil splash all over. PS I have not had any problem with a whistling sound at all! (only "con" turned out to be another "pro." When installing, has 2 small notches needed at each corner. Granite guys handled it with no problem- and it added more stability to the top as it is set into the counter.) January 8, 2013
