Product Overview

Create delicious family meals with the help of this large 6.2 cu. ft. capacity range. Induction technology transfers energy directly into any magnetic cookware for faster, more efficient cooking. The 9 in. 3,200-watt Induction Boost element even boils water in half the time. The time savor plus true convection cooking system uses a rear fan and a third heating element in the back of the oven. This allows you to roast faster and seal in flavor and juices. Our energy-efficient self-cleaning cycle offers quick, easy and odor-free oven cleaning with aqua lift self-clean technology. And the AccuBake temperature management system delivers uniform baking results every time, while a separate warming drawer ensures that food done ahead of schedule doesn’t get cold before the entire meal is ready to serve.

Customer Questions & Answers

It is more energy efficient than a gas range for a given task? If so, by what %?

I wonder what per cent of heat from a gas burner using a stainless steel pan goes right out the side of the burner without heating the pan? I use 100%^ wind energy. So, the pollution from electricity generation is not a factor.
Asked by: MelS
Induction cooking is the most energy efficient means of cooking. All of the heat goes in the pan. No heat loss, like with gas stoves. I've heard induction is 40% more efficient than gas cooking.

Does the oven door gets hot when baking?

I'm considering this range and I have a toddler. I read a review that says that the oven door gets hot enough to burn. is that right?,
Asked by: Rosana
Ours gets hot to the touch, also.

What is induction, and is is necessary to have?

Asked by: dahlgrcd
The cookware is available everywhere and all price points. Paula Dean on Evine (I think) has a disk with handle that you can put on the burner to "convert" your cookware to use on the induction stove. Well worth it..induction cooking is faster with great results. I am looking at this stove because I have been using a table top model and just love it....and I have a $1,200 gas cooktop!!

What do I need to look for when I shop for cookware? Not sure of name of materials that will work.

Asked by: Knitter
Cookware has to be ferro magnetic like iron only certain types of stainless steel, no copper or aluminum.

Gold 6.2 cu. ft. Electric Induction Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven with Warming Drawer in Stainless Steel is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great range when it works This range is amazing....when it works. Because it is induction it has a computer board under the cooktop surface instead of burners. This part breaks about once every 6 months and cannot be fixed. It must be replaced. We purchased the 5 year extended warranty and wow are we lucky we did. After the third time they replaced the same part it has not broken since. So maybe they fixed whatever the problem was with the faulty part. If you want to take a chance on this bad boy make sure you buy the extended warranty. And if they offer you another extension after it expires make sure you buy that too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasts one year We bought this Whirlpool induction range just under 2 yrs ago for $1700.00. At a year and 3 months the main computer module board shorted out. It cost $800 to repair! Only a 1 yr warranty. Whirlpool will not make any exceptions. Their customer service is poor. Well we had a new module board installed and after 2 months the new one shorted out!!! Guess what, they don't have a parts warranty!!! It's going to cost another $800.00!!!!! Do not buy this range!!! Look at the other review about the computer shorting out, they all do this apparently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm enjoying cooking again. This range is amazing. My main focus of this review is the Induction top. I have always cooked on gas ranges (45 + years). The home we just moved into is all electric and I have been having a horrible time adapting. We looked into getting gas installed but there was just no easy way to have it done. So I started researching Induction ranges. Took me a while to locate one at a store to actually look at. It wasn't hooked up to try out but at least I could get a feel for how it would work. Took a gamble and bought it. I have to say it is amazing. It definitely heats up quick. I can put 2 1/2 quarts of tap water in a 3 quart pan and it will be a rolling boil in just over 3 minutes. The number system for heat adjustments is very easy to use and understand. I think the biggest drawback to purchasing one is that even the salesmen are not very educated in there use. When I inquired if I could use my cast iron pans on it, I got a very definitive "NO" but when I made him drag out the owners manual to verify that, it stated it was OK to use them. He was shocked. I've learned: * They do make noise on the lower settings. You hear the magnet pulse. No big deal, makes a light clicking sound. * The surface does get hot under the pan. But you can put your hand within a 1/2" from the pan and the surface of the range is still cool. * I have a flat bottomed Wok and it works wonderfully on this range. * It is amazingly easy to clean * It is incredibly responsive to heat adjustments. * The kitchen stays cooler. * The stove top meals cook quicker, so I am spending less time in the kitchen. Drawbacks, only a few: * I have not found a non-stick skillet that will work on it. No biggie to me * You can't use a 2 burner grill pan. * A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you or a family member has a pacemaker, consult with your doctor or the manufacture before you purchase. The oven functions nicely, I still prefer a gas oven, but I have no complaints with this one. I really love the interior finish on the oven and how easy it is to clean. Love the large viewing window and the split rack is a nice feature. The convection feature is easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product exceeded my expectations! As a lover of gas, I have been researching this electric option for almost a year. When I had had it with my builder grade stove, imade the leap to induction, and haven't regretted it in the least. I was looking at some of the expensive brands, but decided theWhilpool had the same BTUs and features as some of the elite stoves. The placement of the burners, and the control panel are functional and easily monitored. Having the ability to set a timer for each burner was an added bonus, especially for times when I am multitasking! Excellent product! Thank you to their et cooks who must have designed this!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They're buying it back From the beginning (Feb 2015) beeped randomly, back burners wouldn't work and front burners would not work beyond level seven. Heat was shorting out the cooktop control, which sits right above oven door. After three attempts to fix (including a "kit" which means this is a design defect - those who were charged for the repair should complain), Whirlpool agreed to replace. Alleged factory backorder meant estimated delivery August 2015. Phoned to follow up - now it's some time in early 2016! They are buying it back, needless to say. If it worked it would be a slick appliance. Bummer is it's part of a "matched" new appliance set. So now the range won't match.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good at first. Breaks after 6 months. At first this is an amazing range. Cooking is a breeze. However any review you read was made early after the purchase. We'll I have had this range for 1.5 years, and it just broke for the third time. Same issue each time. The entire computer must be replaced. The crazy thing is how good it works when it does work. If you can handle being out of service a week out of each 6 months then go for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Induction is fantastic if you are looking for a range or coo Only issue I see is you will probably have to purchase some new pots and pans. As you shop out brands things to look for that you cannot see on the internet is the "cook top surface" I changed my decision to this Whirlpool unit when I saw the floor display next to the other brand it was a deal maker for me. I strongly suggest seeing the units on the floor display and ask alot of questions. Also look at burner size and placements on the cook top make sure you like the orientation. I also found the extended warranty from the mfg was better than the one the dealer offers. pay attention I found that the $ was very close but the factory warranty covers "electrical, mechanical, and functional" issues the dealer leave out the "functional". Convection oven plenty big @ 6.2cf work good we purchased this unit just before thanksgiving and the oven works great. I will follow up with a review in 6-months to re-review if any issues

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Flinstones Meet the Jetsons I moved from an area with gas service to one without, so I decided to make the technology shift to Induction and Convection. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Whirlpool's units are the best value for the $$$ in my opinion in this space if you are not looking to spend an absolute fortune to make this technology upgrade. The range looks great and has great performance and is not hard to learn to work at all...Whirlpool has made it near Idiot Proof with their controls and instructions. The time is right and so is the price...time for you to upgrade!
