I've purchased many Whirlpool products over the years and they've always been quality items. We purchased this dishwasher and it's been a lemon from the start. We had the repairman out here many times. The warranty won't replace the dishwasher itself, unless the same part breaks three times. we've had many parts break but so far the most replacements on a single part is twice. We've had this dishwasher since 2013. what an inconvenience this thing is. first we wait a few days for the warranty repairman, they never carry the part on their truck, then we wait after they order it. no more whirlpool for me.

The dishwasher looks sleek, works pretty well, and we couldn't turn down the installation at such a low price. The stainless interior is nice, and washes standard dishes nicely. Perfectionist wife not satisfied with staining on utensils, although the thing has done it's job, keeping her off her feet for extended periods of time doing dishes (I'm not allowed to help).
Biggest issue so far would be cosmetic. It came with large gap where the handle connects to front surface, and a scratch, likely from installing the bolloxed handle. Fortunately covered under 30 day cosmetic warranty, although we're on trip 2 because the replacement parts were defective and somehow also got past the service store's inspection.

I always rinse before putting dishes in the washer. I run this thing on heavy wash, it takes forever, & it doesn't really do a great job of cleaning... not as good as the old Amana that it replaced anyways. I am also not fond of the door mounted silverware basket. It comes off to load, but it's just unwieldy. It looks nice though... if that's a priority for anyone.

Overall I have enjoyed the washer so far. My wife hasn't enjoyed it as much. She says the older washer had more room on the top tray. (The right side of the top tray was deeper than this one.) I moved the top tray down to the alternate position but couldn't keep it there due to very little room being left on the bottom tray for pots and serving platters.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave48 This dishwasher is of high quality and I'm having fun learning its unique personality.
You can always find a negative review of a product. This one, however, is nothing but good. We bought this appliance as one of the first steps in renewing our kitchen and my wife and I are both happy with its quality and features. It looks great and runs quiet as a purring kitten. As with any diswasher, it pays to rinse everything before placement. For best results, follow all suggestions in the owners manual, especially the use of a post wash rinsing agent. After parties with my Wife, Father, myself, both Daughters and thier Husbands, we've found plenty of room for assorted glasses, bowls, plates and flatware. You should have no problems if you take your time to carefully pack and emptying the racks. When you first get the unit, the silverware basket will be attached to the door. Take a moment switch it to the front of the bottom rack. Use both hands to set it first on one side, then the other, to solve any mysteries of this process. Avoid the temptation to pull the bottom rack using its handle. There are lots of settings offered, but we use normal most often and are happy with the results. As with all stainless steel appliances it fingerprints and marks easily. I've found a squirt of Windex followed by a paper towel wipe will makes the front look as good as new.

A couple things really stand out about this unit from a positive perspective:
1. All stainless in and out.
2. Large, open bottom area allows for flexible loading.
3. Top rack at higher setting still plenty deep.
4. Less soap required.

So far have had a very good experience with this dishwasher. We replaced an old non-energy star model with only two wash settings, so this is a whole different ballgame. The controls are very easy to understand. You do have to press the start button to continue if you interrupt the cycle, to me no different than having to re-latch my old one. I think it has a little bit more space than the old machine but it's much more flexible about what goes where so it's easier. Also I love that the top rack fits my french press. I haven't yet tried the top-rack only wash but I love the idea that I can do a quick wash of glasses if need be. It is so much quieter than the old one, we actually can watch tv in the next room at the same time - amazing! You do hear a slosh once in a while when it changes part of the cycle but it's still pretty quiet and quite brief. I've been washing with the sensor setting or the eco setting and using eco-dry, which gets my dishes as dry as my old dishwasher: have to maybe dry the bottoms of some bowls/mugs where there's some collected water, but generally very dry. Note that I am using the rinse aid that came with the dishwasher; seems like with all contemporary dw's you must use rinse-aid.

This dishwasher is a replacement for a 15 year old machine that stopped working. I installed the new one myself, with no difficulty because of easy to follow instructions. It works as designed and does a really good job of cleaning dishes.
